Do you mean petrol with oil?
If you do that will be correct if it is a two stroke petrol engine.

the sym scooter is shown as a oil in the sump requirement with a dipstick to check oil level

Yes. You need to purchase two-cycle oil and mix it with petrol according to the chainsaw manufacturer instructions (this information is in the manual). It will specify the appropriate mix for your chainsaw.

Ryobi RPT 2543c This is a 2 stroke engine, so no dipstick. You mix oil with the petrol (ratio 50:1) or 200ml of two stroke oil per litre of petrol, and that's how the engine is lubricated. Hope this helps, [email protected]

Run what ever fuel/oil mix you are comfortable with. A run lean condition is most often caused by an undetected air leak leaning out the mixture to failure. A couple of ounces of 2-cycle oil will not prevent its occurrence. If an owners manual (OM - I tried) is ever located it likely says 32:1. Most modern saws recommend 50:1:

50:1 is the mixture for the Jonsered 535. I bought mine new around 1991 and it's been a great saw.

Put some fuel (1/2 tank) in the fuel tank, replace fuel cap and shake chainsaw. Empty this out and refill with fresh fuel (mix), Make absolutely sure to cleanup any spillage, it should be fine after that.
