Why does my philips portable dvd player not work

The lens isnt reading the disc get a lense cleaner n run it twice that should solve the problem

Possible dirty lenses..
Buy an inexpensible lense cleaner. $10 or less.
Please let me know if that helps

It worked for my Philips PET741/37:

1. Power ON the DVD player without a DISC inside
2. Press the skip keys in this order (the keys are under the "disc menu" and "stop"): right, left, right, left, right, right, left (YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO SETUP MENU, just do this in the "blue screen".
3. It will show a menu with region, now use the arrow keys to select "region" and change to "test 0" (all regions).
4. Press OK to confirm. Enjoy

Open the tray door
Press Setup on the remote control
Select Audio
Press RIGHT ARROW
Press 2,1,2,2,2,5
Press LEFT ARROW
Press DOWN ARROW
Press 0 when the screen displays region code
Press Setup to exit

Please rate my solution if this works:

1. Press the tray "open" button on the DVD player.
2. Enter the following numbers slowly on the remote control "1111" - 'note you will see nothing on the screen'
3. Press "0" on the remote (take note of TV screen to ensure you select the right number. TV should show " New region 0" in top left hand corner of screen.)
4. Press "open/close"

I had the same problem but I solved buying "Laser Lens Cleaner " Philips Magnavox after 3 attempts the DVD starts to work fine again. First only 3 min, then 10 min and now the entire CD cleaner and after I left the CD cleaner for 15 min I tried to play the DVD and WORKS!!! perfect!!!
