How can I get printer to print after changing cartridge

Check the black cartridge and make sure the orange or yellow tape at the rear end is not still attached. If it covers the small hole on the top of the cartridge, the printer won't print black text.

i assume that everytime you try to print you get the same message. i sometimes get cartridge unrecognised on my epsom. I have to remove the cartridge, wipe the chip on the cartridge and reinsert.

If this doesnt work please specify printer model and if using original epsom cartridges.

This document provides information about replacing the print cartridge for the HP LaserJet 1010 printer series, including life expectancy and replacement instructions. Print cartridge life expectancy The life of the print cartridge depends on the amount of toner that your print jobs require. When printing text on letter/A4-size paper at five percent coverage, the print cartridge lasts an average of 2,000 pages. This assumes that you set the print density to three and disable EconoMode. Changing the print cartridge Follow the below instructions to change the print cartridge:

1. Open the print cartridge door, and remove the old print cartridge. See the recycling information inside the print cartridge box. Figure 1: Removing old print cartridge CAUTION: To prevent damage, do not expose the print cartridge to light. Cover it with a piece of paper.
2. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging, and gently shake it from side to side to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. Figure 2: Gently shaking new print cartridge
3. Pull the tab until all the tape is removed from the print cartridge. Put the tab in the print cartridge box to return for recycling. Figure 3: Removing tape from print cartridge
4. Insert the print cartridge in the printer, making sure that the print cartridge is in position. Close the print cartridge door. Figure 4: Inserting new print cartridge

Calibrate your new blank ink cartridge, have some nozzle check, cleaning check, and printer alignment. This are procedure that new ink cartridge will have to calibrate before you use. Epson printer are very sensitive when capable of changing ink cartridge. Unlink HP directly work without any print test because the cartridge head and ink join together, Epson with ink cartridge and the head separate.

Print cartridge
When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer cannot detect/communicate with print cartridge.
Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.
1. Open the top cover of the printer.
2. Remove the print cartridges.
3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.
5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
6. Close the top cover.
7. Try printing again.
If you still cant communicate try with new cartridge .

HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer - Installing Print Cartridges When a print cartridge approaches the end of useful life, the control panel displays a message recommending that to order a replacement. The printer can continue to print using the current print cartridge until the control panel displays a message instructing to replace the cartridge. The printer uses four colors and has a different print cartridge for each color: black (K), cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y). Replace a print cartridge when the printer control panel displays one of the following messages: Replace yellow cartridge, Replace magenta cartridge, Replace cyan cartridge, Replace black cartridge. The control panel display also indicates the color that should be replaced (unless a genuine HP cartridge is not currently installed). Change the print cartridge

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Open the front door. CAUTION: Do not place anything on the transfer belt (ETB), which is located on the inside of the front door.
3. Remove the used print cartridge from the printer.
4. Remove the new print cartridge from the bag. Place the used print cartridge in the bag for recycling.
5. Grasp both sides of the print cartridge by the blue handles and distribute the toner by gently rocking the print cartridge from front to back. CAUTION: Do not touch the shutter or the surface of the roller.
6. Remove the orange shipping locks and the orange shipping tape from the new print cartridge. Discard the shipping tape and shipping locks according to local regulations.
7. Align the print cartridge with the tracks inside the printer, and using the handles, insert the print cartridge until it is firmly seated.
8. Firmly close the front door.
9. Turn on the printer. After a short time, the control panel should display Ready.
   NOTE: If a cartridge is in the wrong slot or is the wrong type for the printer, the control panel will display one of the following messages: Incorrect yellow, Incorrect magenta, Incorrect cyan, Incorrect black.
10. Installation is complete. Place the used print cartridge in the box in which the new cartridge arrived. See the enclosed recycling guide for recycling instructions.
11. If a non-HP print cartridge is in the printer, check the printer control panel for further instructions.
    NOTE: When replacing or changing a black print cartridge, a cleaning page will automatically print. This helps prevent speckles on the front or back of printed documents. A cleaning page can also be generated using the control panel or the HP Toolbox.

Here is the procedure to change the ink cartridge

• First Press the POWER button to turn on the printer.

• Open the top cover.The cradle moves to the center of the printer.Open the cradle latch.

• Slide the print cartridge out of the print cartridge cradle and discard it.

• Remove the replacement print cartridge from its packaging and carefully remove the plastic tape. Hold the print cartridge so that the copper strip is on the bottom
  

• Slide the print cartridge firmly into the cradle. Ensure that the copper contacts the print cartridge meet the copper contacts of the print cartridge cradle

• Close the cradle latch.

• Verify white paper is loaded in the printer, then close the top cover. The printer automatically prints a calibration page for optimum print quality.

Uninstall the printer, reboot and reinstall using your printer software/driver cd.
