I am receiving an error message on my HP Officejet 6110 printer screen that prevents the printer from functioning. The message is "Open door. Clear carriage jam and then press enter." I've tried opening every door there is and cannot find any jam to clear. The ink cartridges are properly installed and there is no paper jam. The printer also makes a loud noise when powering on, perhaps when attempting to do a carriage return. Could someone assist me? Thank you.

Yes, that is a carriage jam and not paper, the grinding is from the clean station that gets blocked with dried ink and cant move. you need to open the printer and clean the ink off of the clean station so it can clean properly and not cause a carriage jam.

Error message= open door clear carriage jam and

I think the message is instructions, as in
(1) open door (2) clear carriage jam (3) press enter
So there is something internal to the printer that makes it think it has a carriage jam, piece of paper under a sensor, dirty or stuck sensor.
If you can't find it using a bright light, try canned air.

HP6110 All in one

When the HP Office jet series all-in-one front panel screen displays Memory Full, the HP Office jet all-in-one is not able to send, receive or forward faxes. Copying will also not work. WORKAROUND: Though the memory buffer should clear itself automatically after proceeding with the next task, like receiving a fax or starting a copy job, these suggestions below may help you clearing the memory buffer by:
  • Add paper to the HP Officejet series paper tray
  • Clear a possible print jam and proceed printing the fax.
  • Reduce the copying or faxing resolution via the front panel's menu.
  • Use the HP Manager to send a (group) fax or making a copy. More memory is available this way, as the HP Manager utilizes the PC memory. When sending a group fax, the HP Officejet all-in-one's memory is filled to capacity. To copy in color is only possible from the HP Officejet Manager.
  • Press START to clear the message. If this message persists, unplug the power cord, and after at least 15 seconds plug the power cord in.
CAUSE: The HP Officejet series memory may be full due to: Copying on Photo quality or sending a group dial, which will use an extensive part of the internal memory's capacity. No paper in the paper supply tray, while receiving a fax. This may result that the data remains in the buffer. Print jam while receiving a fax or copying. The data is still stored in the buffer. System error displayed on the HP Officejet display window. SUMMARY: The HP Officejet series will not fax or copy without sufficient memory to store the data of the page in the buffer before printing the receiving fax or the copy.

HP 6110 error message "clear carriage jam"

No one from "FixYa" provided me any useful solutions to try. Following the HP reset instructions many cycles did not work. By accident, I finally got the HP 6110 working again by unplugging it from the Monster brand surge protector power strip, depowering both for a period of about one hour, then repowering the power strip, then plugging in the HP 6110 and going through its reset function once more. Plugging the HP 6110 directly into the wall outlet into which the power strip was/is plugged did not solve the problem. Note that gremlins in that same power strip also adversely affected my ZyXel DSL modem, or perhaps spurious backfeed signals from that DSL modem affected the HP unit. Sorry, I'm not able to provided any explanations as to why this worked; I am not a digital/PC'electronics person. I was about to tear the machine apart to clean all the surfaces and mirrors as others had recommended, or buy a replacement.

The LCD screen on my HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One displays the following: Open Door Clear Carridge Jam, then Press ENTER Have changed all cartridges, cleaned inside the printer with pressurized air, tried...

apply greese material on the steel rod on which the carriage moves.or it could also be the problem of the sensor which detects the paper in the printer ,that sensor is moved from its orignal position.
