What do the error codes 5Y and EF mean - Frigidaire Professional 27.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator

The 5Y EF error code indicates an issue with or between the fan motor and the control board. I suggest check the wiring between evaporator fan and control board. Make sure everything is plugged in securely. You can also resent the appliance but cutting power off to the appliance for 5 mins to see if the code clears.

That all depends on the make and model number, neither of which you have provided.

This is listed as a SY EF error by Frigidaire (the manufacturer of the refrigerator for the Kenmore line). The error indicates a problem with the system evaporator. The evaporator fan motor may have a problem or the sensor has an issue. If you can hear the fan and feel the air moving in the freezer, then check the sensor. If you don't hear/feel the air flow, then check the evaporator fan motor. If ice built up around the evaporator, the fan motor may have burned out trying to keep running. In that case, you'll need to fix the cause of the ice build up and replace the fan motor.

5Y ef means evaporator fan issue. Could be wiring to the evap fan as well.

This error code is most often linked to a defective evaporator fan motor. This is the fan located in the freezer, behind the back wall.

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an error code of "5Y CE". However it appears that "5Y CE" is an invalid error code. I have noticed the code of "SY CE" and that means there is a communication error at power up. I would recommend performing a reset on your refrigerator and you can do that by unplugging the power cord for at least ten minutes. If that does not correct your issue it could be possible that there is an issue with your main control board, wiring harness, or user interface board.
