How do I change my gmail password?

Hi,

It is not necessary to go through the lost password stuff if, as I think you are saying, you know your password but want to change password or phone number.

Just log in, and when you are logged in there is something looking like a gear in the upper right of the gmail web page.

Click this and you see a drop down menu including SETTINGS

Choose SETTINGS and it will let you change your password, your backup phone number and anything else that you want to change.

Ensure your password change took effect by logging into your gmail account using your new password.
Make sure in the address bar it says "HTTPS" before the address (Some browsers will show this in green)

If the login is successful this means your password was changed. To make sure go through the password change process again and pick a brand new password.

A better solution all together would be to enable 2-step verification. This allows you to use your cell phone to enter a code to make sure logins are from you and you alone.

The second email that was sent to you but blocked as spam was blocked automatically because other gmail users have already marked it as spam. So Google is probably aware of any issues and may ask users to change their passwords if the problem is serious.

If you suspect that someone else knows or has changed your password, please reset it so nobody else can sign in to your account. To do so, just enter your username on the password-assistance page.

I believe you're already logged into your Google Account in Google Chrome which keeps your logged-in status. Google will use your login credentials for Google Chrome to allow you to access your Gmail without requiring you to login again. To force a login each time, you may wish to logout of your Google Account from Google Chrome.

I was just able to sign in to your Gmail account using the password you provided. I just pointed my web browser at http://www.gmail.com then entered your email address and password.

Of course, now that you've published your email address and password, you better get in real soon and change your password before some unkind soul changes it to something else.

Combine Multiple Gmail Accounts

Reset My Gmail Password

To reset your forgotten Gmail password:

• Make sure you either
  • have a secondary email address specified for your Gmail account or
  • you have not logged into your Gmail account for 5 days.
• Follow the I cannot access my account link from the Gmail log-in page.
• Click I've forgotten my password.
• Type your Gmail user name (what precedes "@gmail.com" in your Gmail address) under Username:.
• Click Submit.
• Type the letters in the captcha into the field beneath the image.
• Click Submit.
• Depending on whether you have a secondary email address specified or not,
  • open the Google Password Assistance message in your secondary email account and follow the password reset link in it or
  • type the answer to your security question and click Submit.
• Enter the desired new password under both New password: and Re-enter password.

If you have used your Gmail account in the past five days but have not specified a secondary email address, you'll have to wait for these five days to pass.

To unlock the pattern screen lock, sign in with your Google account.
1. After 30 seconds, tap Forgot pattern?
2. The user need to log in with the primary gmail.com e-mail address and not the alternative email address connected to the Google account.
3. Tap the username field and enter the primary Google account user name.
4. Tap the password field and enter the primary Google account password.
5. Draw a new unlock pattern and tap Continue .
6. Draw the new unlock pattern again and tap Continue .

First, you can check to see if the email information is stored in Firefox.

In the browser, go to: Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords


Then in the password dialog box, type "google.com" in the search field. That will display a list of all google accounts which are saved in the browser. To display the passwords, click on the "Show passwords" button.
