Could be something as simple as dirt under the button, get yourself some electronic switch cleaner and spray under and around the button. Always keep keyboard clean.
I do not believe there is. It is dependent on a proximity switch in the display. You should contact lenovo for a factory authorized repair before your warranty expires.
