SOURCE: my fedder dehumidifier m7dh45b2a makes an annoying noise

Hi,
This noise is the vibration from the compressor...sometimes things can come loose and magnify the noise...check for loose parts and tighten as needed...
The compressor may also be going bad...

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier2_bing.gif.

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

Bucket switch/float valve sticking? Take out the bucket and make sure the switch moves freely.

It won't turn on. you will plug it in and the "full" button will flash on and off for 5 seconds then it wont show any sign of its power being on.

The last time the bucket was remove, it wasn't reinstalled properly or the float valve in the top of the bucket is stuck in the "UP" position (if yours is so equipped).

Remove the bucket and check for the float valve. If it's in the up position, jiggle the arm to make it return to the down position. Reinstall the bucket, so that it fits "squarely" from top to bottom, into it's holder. It must make firm contact with Bucket Safety Removal Switch on the back wall of the bucket holder. When installed properly, the bucket should not tilt down at the bottom.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

The llittle foam block had slipped down.

The little foam block is the end of the float valve. Try to put it carefully back in place, as the bucket may overflow or the dehumidifier may not work at all.

If you find you need to replace just the foam block, you can purchase it from the following website.

Why does the full light stay on when the water container is empty?

It's generally cased by the bucket not being installed properly. Therefor, the bucket removal safety switch is not being triggered by the bucket, when it's reinstalled. Also, if you bucket has a float valve in the top of the bucket, it may be stuck in the 'UP' position. Is so, jiggle the float handle until it returns to the 'DOWN' position.

Reinstall the bucket so that it fits "squarely" into the holder from top to bottom. The bottom should not tilt down at all.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot & solve the problem.

Our model M7DH45b2Qa flashes as full but is 1/8- 14 full. What should I check?

Check the adjustable float valve in the top of the water bucket. As I recall, it is adjustable to the amount of water you want it to collect, before shutting OFF. Also, when you reinstall the bucket, be sure that it fits "squarely" into the bucket holder from top to bottom. It should not tilt down at the bottom.

My dehumidifier says it is full but the bucket is empty. It will not work at all.

What you have described is usually caused by the bucket not being properly installed or if you have a model with a float valve in the top of the bucket , it is stuck in the UP position.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Remove the bucket from it's holder and check for a float valve. If you have a model with that feature, jiggle the float valve's arm, to get it to return to the DOWN position.

If you don't have a float valve, the bucket must be installed "squarely'" into it's holder from top to bottom, so that the bucket makes firm contact with the actuator switch. The switch resembles a trigger switch, which is visible when the bucket is removed.

Troubleshoot the above, should solve the problem.

I can't get my float on my dehumidifier to work. It is in full mode although empty. The light keeps flashing. It doesn't seem to be making contact with the "switch" in the unit. Can you...

Just, gingerly jiggle the float ball rod and it should release and return to the down position. If that doesn't work the first time, spray a light coating of WD40 on it.

The unit is several years old - the float keeps falling in and the unit shows full -can I get a new float and will that fix the problem?

If the float falling in tells you its full probably not. Unless the float floats off a switch. Then a new float that wont fall off would probably do it.

If the float keeps falling off...why not tie a small piece of fishing line to it and suspend it above the switch? It will stay where its needed until water lifts it up.

Full light keeps blinking on Maytag dehumidifier

pull out the tank and see if you can find the switch that actuates that fault.... it may be the float swich for the bucket and it may be stuck... flip the float switch up and down a few times
