While out on the water my hds 5 suddenly started to display incorrect information such as water temperature and depth. There is no visible damage to the device and I have sprayed contact cleaner in the connections to the display unit but the problem still exists. Any suggestions appreciated. Thankyou

First try to clean the interior, removing all the contact spray. It will cause the metal parts to oxidise If you see oxidised parts or contacts, try cleaning those parts. Also check if the contacts of your cabling are still free of dirt and oxide.
Take care don't clean with sharp tools, because toy will damage the contacts, bend repair.

SOURCE: Lowrance x96 does not function after 20 feet depth

Your transducer needs to be adjusted so the return signal can be picked up. Some of these have to be super tuned to receive the signal. Also the transducer may be moving ever so slightly when the boat is traveling at speed. You may have some water turbulence interference all contibute to signal return.

SOURCE: How does my Lowrance HDS-5

To connect a LRA 2400 to a Lowrance HDS-5 sounder/chartplotter, you can run an ethernet RJ45 cable from your Radar Processing box to the HDS-5 unit. You will need an adaptor cable for the RJ 45 cable to hook into the HDS-5 head unit. This is part no 000-0127-56.

As for the different transducer pinouts, I am not sure what transducer you have now so I cannot say if there is any kind of converter plug available, however, the HDS-5 units do seem to run best using the transducers that are made for them. Your best option may be to buy the transducer that is made for them, and this will directly connect to the display unit.

Hope that helps!

I have a Raypak 399L and the LCD screen shows Spa Set 100F. Under that it says sensor failure. It wont start up

It sounds like there may be a problem with the temperature sensor on your Raypak 399L spa heater. The "sensor failure" message indicates that the heater is not able to detect the temperature of the water in the spa. This can prevent the heater from starting up and operating properly.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the wiring: Make sure all of the wiring is securely connected and there are no loose wires or damaged connections.
  2. Check the temperature sensor: The temperature sensor is typically located in the heater itself. Make sure it is securely fastened and there are no visible signs of damage.
  3. Test the temperature sensor: Some models of the Raypak 399L have a diagnostic feature that allows you to test the temperature sensor. Consult your owner's manual or a service manual for instructions on how to do this.
  4. Replace the temperature sensor: If the temperature sensor appears to be damaged or is not functioning properly, you may need to replace it. This will typically require the help of a qualified service technician.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, don't hesitate to ask.

Why don't I see fish on my lowrance elite5 hdi fish locator

Sounds like you do not have your transducer connected.
You will know it is working if you have a bottom sounding. If you have a bottom sounding (depth reading) and it is correct then you may have to fine tune the finder to see the fish.
I have the same finder on my boat. http://njsaltfish.com/index.php/captainsfocus?sid=61

How do i find water depth

Water depth should show automatically on your sonar page.
if it does not then either you have selected "stop sonar" under your sonar options or you have opted to turn off the depth displayou so the numbers don't show up.
if you areally viewing your GPS or split screen sonar/GPS page, sometimes the depth display is not visible on these pages unless you specifically instruct the unit to display it.

Just updated to the last version 4 of firmware. Depth reading are wrong, say 48 meters when it's only 2 meters.

Check for depth offset, there may have been an unintended change that altered this setting. This setting compensates for draft....

Hummingbird Fishfinder model 535

The Depth & temp come from two different sensors. Check your coax cable to the transducer (the lager oval piece), the connector, and the transducer for cracks /breaks in insulation. Good luck.
