You need the Service Manual which shows how to adjust the speed. You will be working in the vicinity of live 120 volts if you do this. Be very careful. You can download the Service Manual from:

SOURCE: Kitchenaid K5A mixer 10 speed only runs on fast, no slow speed

Pull the back off and there will be two screws at the top of the Speed Control Plate and a 3rd screw at the bottom. Tighten the top two screws down. [email protected]. Let me know if it works.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid K45SSWH Mixer only starts fast then sometime slows

You can try adjusting the speed control as shown in section 6 of the service manual:

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaidservicemanual.pdf

Also remove and clean the brushes as shown in the same manual pg 8 fig. #30.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid stand mixer runs only on slow speed

The Kiichenaid mixer has a centrifugal speed governor. I suspect your is stuck. It will need to be disassembled, and inspected.

Kitchenaid mixer running hot and slow

Hello, Alice -

The motor for your mixer may need lubrication or some kind of repair.

The posts on this online forum may prove helpful:
https://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421826

Also, read the advice in this blog:
https://www.foodonthefood.com/food_on_the_food/2009/04/how-to-repair-a-kitchenaid-mixer-yourself.html
A link in the blog will lead to:
http://artisanbreadbaking.com/ka_greasing/
which provides step-by-step instructions to opening the mixer, cleaning the operating parts, greasing the gears (with food grade lubricant), and other repair tips. Note: You can probably find food grade lubricant at a restaurant supply store.

This is the link to a Sears website where you may be able to locate replacement parts, if needed:

Best wishes.

Kitchenaid motor slows

If it slows down when mixing, it is most likely that the mixer is being asked to do more than it is capable of. If it slows down when nothing is in the bowl, then the motor/gears/lubrication needs looking after.

When the mixer is turned on, you can here the inside going, but the outside part does not turn

Sounds like a problem we had years ago. We put too much pressure on the motor by mixing a very thick dough for cookies. It stripped the "gears" and couldn't be used on slow.... it would instantly go to the fastest speed. We had to take it to a reputable appliance store that does repairs on KitchenAid products. I'm still using mine and that has been 15 years ago. It still works great!!

Kitchenaid 250 watt. Speeds up and slows down on its own?

Call the Kitchenaid service number (1-800-541-6390 in the U.S.). As your unit is still under warranty, and they are very proactive I'm sure this problem will be readily resolved.

Kitchenaid 250 watts k4ss mixer

The repair manual says that the mixer can make this grinding sound at slow speed, like stir or 2. This is normal, especially until it warms up. This is the sound of the gears turning at slow speed.
