You must have a SIM card inserted to make calls and send SMS. Check if you have the SIM card installed. If not, talk to your service provider.

SOURCE: Iphone, not reading sim, not connecting of itunes...

another way to restore it would be to turn the device off, then hold down the power button and plug it into your cpu still holding the home button and it should show up in itunes

My Straight Talk Huawei says it has no service but was working last night and now just wont send messages what is going on

1. Did you pay the bill? Check with them, maybe your service got cut off.
2. If it isn't #1, Take the SIM card out and put it back again, maybe the SIM card is faulty.
3. If possible, go to settings, mobile network, and choose to search for your wireless carrier, once it pop up, tap it to register.
4. You also must make sure your APN is in order. And have the correct APN check for Straight Talk.

Can't send or receive text messages

It is likely that the phone has 'dropped off the network' or your message centre number has been accidentally changed.

The phone periodically sends a signal to the network to keep the network updated with its location. That way, when a call or text is made to your phone, the network knows which CELL to send the signal to (the last CELL place the phone was found in). If the network has not received a signal from the phone saying it is being turned off or has not managed to keep the network updated, the network will not deliver a text although this should not affect sending texts (in theory).
To get it working again, there are a few things to try:
1. Remove the battery without turning the phone off, remove the SIM and power up the phone. When the phone has started, turn it off, re-insert the SIM and start the phone.
2. Go into Network Settings and manually try to connect to another network and when it fails, set it back to automatic.
3. Temporarily put your SIM into another phone for a minute (you could get lots of texts coming in so read them before you put the SIM back into your phone.

My phone is prepaid and it still has minutes on it but it wont let me send text messages or calls. Everytime i try to send texts it says "sending failed, would you like to retry? I answer no, and also...

Please observe these : - Validity period of your prepaid SIM card. - Minimum balance that still work to your phone ( This will under your service provider wise) - Network signal.

Nokia 2310 suddenly stopped sending text message

If the SIM works fine in other phones, there is a phone issue. See if you're eligible for a warranty replacement (eligible if purchased new from AT&T within the last year or if purchased refurbished from AT&T within the last 90 days). If ineligible and you have insurance, use it... there will be a $50 deductible applied to your next bill. If ineligible and you haven't got insurance, get a replacement through somewhere like ebay or craigslist, upgrade (never EVER use wirefly or amazon, trust me) through AT&T preferably, or purchase a gophone (AT&T prepaid) from walmart, walgreens, wherever (If you go to RadioShack, they'll do everything for you). You just put your SIM in it and it will have your phone number and contract information... you don't have to sign up for prepaid service.

Sending text messages...

Hi julietdb,

This sometimes occurs when a SIM card has gone wrong.
Go to Messages, Settings, Text Message, Service Centre

Then, call your ISP, ask for the SMS Service center number.
Then, verify that it is the one written in the location I gave you.
If not, replace it with the number you were given.

In case it is - there's probably something wrong with the SIM card and it needs to be replaced.
