Lost 40Gb of photos-7Gb not lost.

I downloaded 40Gb of photos, viewed them. I downloaded one more CF card and when I removed it, the first 40 Gb disappeared. I have downloaded more photos which have remained available as usual and I have put the latest photos on the computer but am unable to find the 'lost' 40Gb of photos.

First of, I suggest you use USB Flash Drives of High Value., like 500 to 1G. Or a second Hard Drive 2G.
If you lost 40G of data, it is gone. Just remember to use the EJECT format to remove all external devices. If you do not, you can loose data.

Epson P-3000 image/multimedia viewer will not download from SD or CF cards. It plays MPEGS on the cards, and one can view photos on the cards, but "Backup" to download the cards' content to...

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Updating the Firmware would have resolve the issue that you have but it don't. If epson says that you need to send it for repair it does not means that this is just a problem with the hardware. Sending the device to epson would be better so that the can check if this is a problem with the software or hardware then they will replace or fix the issue with your viewer.
Thanks

After deleting pictures I never get 40GB of memory space back

I found the same thing. Had to go to "my computer" , load up the photobank icon.

Click on the cards folder and then delete each folder.

THEN ,after clearing off the photobank, go to the desktop and empty the recycle bin. You will get the 40gigs back.

Cant get the pop up lid open where u put the memory card

Is this a 40 GB model? If it is then the "door" is fake and wont open. If it is a 60GB or higher then it shouldn't take anything to open because there is no latch or anything on them. Check your model number on the back of the unit if it is a CECHG-01 or CECHH-01 then it is a 40GB model and doesn't have the SD or CF port and the door is fake.
