TV powers on with no splash screen and then powers off.

My Sony Bravia KDL-40V5100 powers on, I hear a click, the screen glows gently for about 3-5 seconds, stops glowing, and then powers off. Only green LED lights up . No red or amber lights come on throughout this process. Thank You! Rico L.

I chose to replace the main board. Didn't work. Note, it was tough to find, but I found a replacement from ShopJimmy's ebay store. I carefully installed the new main board. The resulting replacement did not fix the TV. Standby Red LED now works! Upon power up, Red LED goes Green. in about 8 seconds, the back light comes on, then after 0.5sec, backlight goes dark with the loud click that we all know. The backlight is dark, and then where with the previous main board, the power would cycle, now it sends the TV to standby Red LED. There is no blinking counts with the Red LED, just goes solid on. I can turn the TV right back on wiht the power button, or remote, then the cycle starts over. Please help?

If you are using a Motorola cablebox, you may need to change the Audio in the cablebox to Heavy Compression. You can find this in the cablebox Menu, Setting, Audio. Set the audio to Advanced then change the compression.

Hi,

There is a power fault with one of the PCB's inside, contact Sony if you are still in warranty, if not contact a Sony service center as it will need an engineer to open it up to repair it.

Thanks

SOURCE: sony bravia l42" LCD TV. No power. Green light on

7 blinks in the this series(KLV) means there is a short in the power supply board. The easiest way to fix this would be to swap out the board. I can find you a replacement if you want to try fixing this yourself.

My son thew a toy and cracked the screen can i fix with new screen model kdl40v5100

LCD Screen would cost you more than tv worth, a new tv would be good choice instead of lcd screen replacement.
Thanks.

Sony KDL-40V5100 Switches off by itself

Sorry to say but it sounds like your power supply is bad, although it is possible it is some other components in the TV because turning it off allows all diodes etc to power down completely. Unfortunately after a bit it happens again which leads me to believe again power trouble.

I have a Sony KDL-40V4100, constantly hearing clicking noises

Could be the power board or main board defective, but I suggest you do firmware update first. Go to http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=KDL42V4100&LOC=3#div_pos_30 download the software.

Sony kdl-40v5100 has handshake problem

1.This issue sounds as though the TV connection circuit has an issue.
2. You have changed the DVR and the HDMI cables and you still have an issue with the video (pink screen) indicates a video circuit issue ( improper voltage or current) at the video section of the circuit.
3. This will require some troubleshooting by a qualified tech.
4. To make sure, try connecting another properly working LCD TV to the cable box or DVR an check. If you get a picture and sound properly it is the TV.
5. Usually a cable box is QA'd (quality assured) by the company and will not be sent unless tested 1st
