Last week (24/06/2009) my HP Pavillion slimline running Vista loaded 2 MS Windows patches. After restarting, the Vista interface would not appear, just the white mouse cursor on a black screen, instead of the desktop UI. The boot process worked fine until teh desktop is supposed to appear. I haven't made a system recovery disk, and safe mode start up ends results in the same issue. Anyone know how I can roll back the patches and hopefullly resolve this issue?
After switching on the computer press F8 & Choose safe mode to boot the system & Restore the system in previose state & Before doing this make sure u backup the C Drive.

Thanks Hurshmohan, but I'm not getting the 'last good settings' option. As a shutdown could not be initiated after this problem occurred, Vista automatically starts witht eh Widows Recovery DOS screen, which gives me a choice of Safe Modes start up, but no 'last known good settings' option.
