Speaker fuses are rated in Amps. If you cant find the specs on your speaker via google, (I couldn't find anything on the fuse.) start with a 2 Amp 'slow-blow' fuse. That should work at low to medium volumes. If you find it blows at low volumes, move up to a 4 or 5 Amp fuse. E-715 is a big speaker, (handles 400W!) so starting at 2 amps should be pretty safe.

Code 731 is for the computer thinks the ratio is wrong for first gear, and code 715 is for a problem with the input speed sensor. Code 715 could cause code 731. Someone would need to check the sensor and possibly replace it.

They will work at 4 ohm, but you won't get near as much volume out of them as you would if you used an 8 ohm amp. The E-715 speakers are rated for 8ohms. You could damage your amp running speakers that are not matched to the same ohm rating, however it is safer to run a low ohm amp to higher ohm speakers then it is to go from low ohm speakers to a high ohm amp. Your speakers will perform how they were intended if you match the ohm rating, so try to do that at if at all possible.

Has the VR 715 got a dedicated phono socket? If so use that. If you are using it, you need to check with the instructions to see if it has an inbuilt Magnetic Cartridge Preamp. If it doesn't then you need a to get a pre-amp to hear it.
If the device was previous giving out good sound then either the cartridge has gone or the same pre-amp inside the unit has failed. It will not affect any other function.
To test the cartridge. Remove the connection wires to it remembering where they connect (write it down). Then with the device on. Switched to phono. Touch the end of each wire with your finger one at a time. You should hear a loud buzz on two of the wires, one on each channel, nothing on the other two wire.
If you get the loud buzz that shows the pre-amp is working and the cartridge needs to be replaced. If you do not get a buzz, or it is very weak. Then the pre-amp has failed and needs replacing.
