SOURCE: no Lcd Display on Canon PowerShot S60 Digital Camera

Take a picture and download it to your computer. If the picture also shows up as black then your camera probably has a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

SOURCE: Black screen while shooting, but still taking pictures not black

Nonononooooo fotomohamed, he can review just taken pictures on the LCD. The screen is working.

Actually, it sounds like you just accidentally pressed the DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the screen on and off in picture taking mode to save batteries (you would then use optical viewfinder). Just press it once and it should turn back on.

SOURCE: canon powershot a590 IS lcd screen

I had this same problem. Once I got over about 1200 pictures, the screen just turned black, and the only setting that would work where I could see the lcd screen was the easy setting. I had read somewhere that this was due to the amount of pictures the camera had "counted", even if those pictures had been downloaded and erased from the camera. So I decided to reset the camera. Go to the tools list in the menu, scroll down to "reset all", and when it prompts if you want to "reset settings to default" click ok. This worked for me, and all of my settings - sunset, landscape, etc. - parameters in any of the settings (shutter speed, lighting, etc.) those will have to be reset.

SOURCE: Blank screen on Canon Powershot S2is camera

hi.if you are telling both viewfinder and lcd are blank or black the problem is in the shutter that you found inside of the lens are not open.sometimes the cuase of the is humidity or moist goin inside of the shutter thats why it will not work properly or stuck up.if you can open your camera and adjust the shuuter from lens unit its better .but if not its better you bring to service center and request for adjustment.

by the way try also to reset your camera to default setting maybe it will help you.

thank you

The lcd screen is broken, I want to get it repaired. Where do I send it, and or what is a cost estimate?

They don't really repair it. They charge you more than $150 and send you a factory-refurbished replacement.

LCD screen stays dark

I have the same problem and very frustrating! The camera turns on by won't show anything (totally black) in the camera mode. The menu still works. If I take a picture the display is black and shows black for it in the display mode model as well. Tried everything that I can think of but nothing helped. (Taking out the batteries and reinstalling, switching the mode from display to camera and back, stepping through each mode option, stepping through each menu options). The last option worked once but won't work later on. From this forum this seems to be a common problem with this camera. Guess won't buy another camera from Canon any more. I bought a camera (non-digitals SLR) from Canon before and was very happy with it for over 20 years. Thought Canon had the right thing in camera. This problem made me think twice when I buy another camera in the future. Perhap Canon is not as good as I thought. By not fixing the known problem, they are ruining their reputation.

unfortunately since the problem is on the hardware (lcd screen), there is no way of fixing it except from the people of the service center.
