Hello I own a whirlpool Fridge + Freezer.
Model No. 3xAR64586D00 AR6458/6/I.
It's not young (say 10 or so years old..?. My problem is this...
The appliance has started to 'blow' the main fuse at our electric consumer unit (not at the wall socket plug). When left for 12, or so hours the appliance can be switched on again without 'blowing' the house circuits. Then it will work for say, another 12 hours before 'blowing' the circuits again. Do you know which component is causing the problem? It's a good appliance and has served us well. Money is too tight at present to replace it. Help!
Thank you.

(in the UK)
Hi lewis,
This is very suspect if it blew straight away I would suspect the compressor going to earth, I am still not convinced with the comp after all ts ten year life is up, It could be something to do with the thermal overload on the comp if it has one.
The compressor does run for 12 hours but in that twelve hours does it reach temp? does it actually switch off on its normal routine?
where about in the uk are you?

Many thanks for your quick response. I live in Godalming, Surrey.
I Think it reached its working temperature but I'm not sure if it switched on and off to maintain it. I can monitor it when I switch it back on later today. I'm obviously not an electrician/electrical engineer but I am reasonably handy (having built my house) and I hope with the right guidance I could try to fix the problem with some hair left on my head!
Thanks.
