You can refill it with capella oil. This is the same as the oil used in refrigerator compressors, and be acquired
from stores specializing in refrigeration and airconditioning. Send us an e-mail for further assistance.

Why will well pump lose its prime

George:

There is a packing or valve in the pump that is supposed to keep water in the pump. Either a packing (O ring) or a one-way valve has failed. If it is a "one way valve" there may be a piece of gunk holding the valve open allowing the prime to drain out of the pump.

How To Interpret Or Read Nameplate On 3 Phase Motor?

The higher the voltage the lower the amperage, so advantage is its more cost effective to run it at highe voltages since power consumption is I squared x Resistance. The resistance will be the same but the lower the current the less it cost to run it.

Motor just hums when boat lift switch turned up or down

This is usually caused when the motor sits awhile w/o being used. Remove the rear cover with a flat blade screwdriver or 1/4" nut driver. using a flat screwdriver, spin the armature clockwise. this should fix it. If you cannot spin it, the motor should be replaced.

I NEED TO REWIRE A DOERR LR24684 ELECTRIC MOTOR,ITS 1/2 HP, RPM 1725 115 volts to a metal lathe AND ON SWITCH IT'S WRITE- FOR IN DOWN IN CENTER STOP AND UP REV -I SEARCH TO CONNECT THIS...

Motor terminal box sometimes has a connection diagram inside the lid.

Basically a single phase induction motor has a run winding and a start winding and to reverse the direction the connections to one winding, usually the start winding, must be reversed and that is the function of the lathe switch.

Single phase motors are easily damaged and so if any doubt exists I strongly suggest you ask a motor specialist for assisstance.

I have an Ingersoll Rand Type 30 air compressor. Model #234. I was given this unit because the motor had gone bad. I would like to replace the motor and use it but I was not given the bad motor with the...

One dealer for your model compressor is Northern. They are very good at replacement parts. If you do not have 3 phase power, you could shop around for 5 to 7 hp 220 v motor making sure that the motor mount will align with your plate. Pully size depends on dia. of pulley on the pump. Most pumps turn between 550 min to 1100 rpm depending on the power available and cfm requirements. Most motors turn at 1725 rpm so for example if your compressor has a 14 in. pulley then you motor will need a 5 in. pulley to turn it about 620 rpm. The larger the pulley at the motor the higher cfm produced but more amps used. Motor speed x pulley dia. divided by compressor pulley dia. To obtain more efficiency and highest cfm you will need 3 phase. Good place to see motors and two piece pulley combnations is www.grainger.com. Good luck

I have a 1/3hp goulds pump not working i have changed the capacitor and the centrifugal switch but it still does not work; does not come on what must i look at next.

Check the continuity of the service wires. If they are good, check the resistance of the windings. You may have an open motor windings.
