I can't get my adjustable wrench in to tighten the upper connection to my gas stove

There is a flame adjust ring on each burner where the gas exits the inlet nozzle. Before adjusting these, be sure all other gas appliances are working ok (water heater, etc.) . If they are then focus on the pressure regulator on the stove itself. That is the part that the gas line from the wall connects to on the stove. It is most likely bad. If not then go back to each burner , loosen the screw that locks the adjustment ring, turn the burner on and move the ring back to allow more air to mix with the gas so the tips of the flame just turns from orange to blue. Tighten the screw and move to the next burner that needs adjustment.

You need a gas connection .then flex tube channel locks or a pipe wrench and some Teflon tape. Connection should have shut off valve.should be shut off. Put Teflon tape on threads then connect the connectors. Open valve.check your work twice listen and use your nose for a foul smell.

Instructions

1. Remove the Upper Control Arm
   • 1Disconnect the ground battery cable using a wrench.
     
   • Loosen the front wheel lugs located on the same side of the upper ball joint you need to replace. Use a lug wrench.
     
   • Raise that same front wheel off the ground using a floor jack and support the vehicle on a jack stand.
   • Finish removing the tire.
     
   • Take the cotter pin off the upper ball joint stud holding the steering knuckle arm. Use a pair of nose pliers.
     
   • Remove the castle nut from the upper ball joint stud using a wrench or ratchet, ratchet extension and deep socket.
     
   • Loosen the two bolts securing the back of the upper control arm to the mounting bracket. Use a wrench to hold the bolt head as you loosen the retaining nut with a ratchet and socket.
     
   • Pull the control-arm ball joint off the steering knuckle arm. You may need to use a Pitman arm puller to free the ball joint.
     
   • Finish removing the two bolts from the back of the upper control arm and lift the upper control arm off the vehicle.
     
   Install the New Upper Control Arm
   • Set the new upper control arm in place and install the two bolts and retaining nuts to secure the back of the upper control arm to the mounting bracket. Remember the bolt heads should point inward toward the shock absorber with the retaining nuts on the outside of the mounting bracket. Do not tighten the bolts yet.
     
   • 11Insert the control-arm ball joint on the steering knuckle arm and start the castle nut with your hand over the ball joint stud. Do not tighten the nut yet.
     
   • Tighten the two bolts on the mounting bracket to 67-foot lbs. (91 Nm) using a torque wrench. Hold the bolts with a backup wrench as you tighten the retaining nuts with the torque wrench.
     
   • Tighten the ball-joint castle nut to 45-foot lbs. (61 Nm) using the torque wrench, ratchet extension and deep socket.
     
   • Install a new cotter pin through the joint-ball stud hole using the nose pliers. If necessary, tighten the castle nut just a few degrees to clear the stud hole through one of the castle nut slots.
     
   • Mount the tire on the wheel assembly and install the wheel lugs using the lug wrench.
     
   • Lower the vehicle and finish tightening the wheel lugs.
     

Sounds like the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS), which part of the pilot, is clogged and needs to be cleaned. Also, check the connection of the Thermocouple to the gas Control Valve. It may be loose. If you can turn with your fingers, it's loose. Finger tighten it and with an appropriately sized open end wrench, tighten it only 1/4 turn more.

Any of the above, should solve the problem.

The oven safety valve has to be cranked down for propane.
Get a good fitting wrench and tighten this spud down and open the air shutter on the burner.

Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench. Wait a few minutes before starting work to allow any current to dissipate. Set the parking brake.

2 Tilt the steering wheel down to the lowest position. Move the gear shift lever to first gear. Leave the key in the ignition. Remove the lower under dash panel plastic clips and screws with a screwdriver. Lift the lower panel upward and remove the upper clips. Disconnect any electrical connections and remove the lower trim panel from the work area. Move the gear shift lever to the Park position and turn the key off.

3 Remove the bolts from the knee bolster plate with a socket wrench and remove the plate from the work area. Remove the two ignition switch bolts using a socket wrench. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the ignition switch.

4 Install the new ignition switch using the retaining bolts and tighten with a socket wrench. Connect the electrical connector. Install the knee bolster plate and bolts using a socket wrench. Turn the ignition on and move the gear lever to first gear.

5 Connect any electrical connections to the lower trim panel. Install the lower trim panel using the upper clips. Install the bottom screws with a screwdriver and insert the plastic clips. Shift the gear lever into Park and return the steering wheel to its normal operating position. Connect the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench and close the hood. Release the parking brake. Start the engine to make sure the new ignition switch is operating properly.

Tighten your spuds down with good fitting wrench till you get that flame how you like it. This video shows how to convert a stove from natural gas to LP gas. It shows you how to adjust them burners though. Take a looksee:

You need to tighten down the orifice spud for the bake burner. Remove drawer in bottom of oven. Look for bottom of burner tube, where the shutter adjustment is. Right below it is the orifice spud. Usually a goldish color. Take 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten until it stops. Do-not overtighten! Try it now. If flames are still to high, tighten a little more. Repeat if needed.

Step 6:
To prepare the new unit for LP gas you need to adjust several items. First you will need to replace the range orifices or spuds. These are individually sized with marks and colors.
Step 7:
Using a nut driver, loosen the old spud and replace with the new one.The trick to keeping from dropping the spud down inside the range is to use a small piece of aluminum foil between the driver and the spud. This should provide enough "grip".
If you do drop one down inside, you'll need torx wrenches to disassemble the burner units and get inside.
Step 8:
The oven orifices need to be adjusted. Using an open-end wrench, tighten down the brass fitting on the oven burner valve.
Step 9:
There may be two orifices, one for the broiler and one for the main oven burner.


Step 10:
You will need to reverse the plastic pin in the regulator underneath the range. Remove the hex nut and flip the plastic pin and reassemble the nut.
Do not over tighten!
The last step is to open the air shutters on each burner as per directions included with the range conversion kit.

Just bought a Kenmore and did this conversion myself. You do not change the oven nozzle (jets) but have to wrench it down with a 1/2" wrench as per instructions. After I did this the falme was high as you described. I wrenched it down further and adjusted the air shuttle and it was fine. The brioler is done the same. The wrench adjustment is tight so be aware.
