SOURCE: papaerjam lite stays on, no paper jam
It is possible that there may still be a small piece of paper blocking or lodged in the exit sensor area. It is also possible that when removing the jammed paper that the sensor arm became dislodged and thus creating a false jam code.

If you are getting a lot of jams in the fuser then there is a problem in the fuser unit !
Is it jamming like an accordion? if Yes, then the problem is w/ the little fingers in the fuser, they are worn and need to be replaced. The rollers in the fuser should be shiny and smooth if not they ca also cause jams.
What black thingy are we talking about and where? if it's the fuser rollers ( where the paper exits and gets hot then try cleaning w/reg soap & water rag then wipe off.

SOURCE: paper feeder jams and crinkles the paper up
there is a set of stripper fingers that kiss the fuser roller and paper is jamming up aginst that area
FIX
Open the fuser section door and front door Look at the fuser roller from exit and front door If there is a wiper pad (slides in on a rod from the side of the machine) remove it and put some fuser oil on it
go to area where you find the paper folding up and observe the stripper fingers for any blockage
If there is some bits of toner on the fingers clean them with a q tip and alcohol
take your finger ( make sure machine has cooled and you have unplugged from wall) and press up against the stripper fingers to se if there is movement (some coiers have a solenoid that activates the striper fingers)
The fuser oil hels keep the fuser roller clean and keeps paper from sticking on rollers
Try the copier if this does not fix i believe you have a problem with a solenoid which will require a sevice call
If you want to observe the paper coming through the fuser rollers and seeing if the fingers activate
ou can trip the safety swithes in the doors and exits and observe
Best of luck to you

Many possibilities can cause this....
The Pick Up Rollers could be worn out and not picking the paper up correctly.
Something blocking, or catching in the paper path
The Fuser unit rollers could be sticking, going bad..
The Exit Delivery could be warped, cracked.
After these machines get old, the heat from Fuser unit causes the delivery Exit to melt, warp, and become extremely brittle.
The simple things you can check your self:
Entirely remove the paper tray, look in the copier where the paper tray slides in, look in side the machine where the paper tray goes, make certain there is nothing in the trays path.
Take the paper out of the paper tray, go through the paper make certain there is no crumbled paper in the tray, it should lay flat and even in the tray...
My favorite, check the paper it self.
I once was at a customer whom recently changed their paper supplier; every 10th piece of paper was creased from the new **** of paper. I found that the entire Box of paper had creases in every ****. It was the paper not the machine. It was pre-wrinkled.
