Flash stopped working

Hi,

The flash in the Camera can be enabled to Flash Forced ON by pressing the Up Arrow control button on the Camera. Press the button continuously to select the desired settings.
Make sure that the Camera Mode (REC MODE) is not set to Burst or Multi Burst.
Flash will not work when the Camera is set to ISO High Sensitivity mode or Twilight mode in the Scene Selection.
The flash will not work in Movie Mode also.
When using the Landscape, snow or Beach mode, set the Scene Selection to Flash Forced On.

This should resolve the issue.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Can't turn on my flash on my sony cyber shot dsc w200. when i try to change the flash it says that my flash settings cannot be changed. what do i do?

Hi,
Let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with the Flash in the Camera. The Flash in the Camera will work only with the settings which is selected.
1. Make sure that the Camera flash is set to Forced Flash ON. (Press the right arrow control button of the Camera continuously to select the Forced Flash to ON.
2. The Flash in the Camera cannot be used when the REC MODE of the Camera is set to BURST or EXPOSURE BRACKET. (To select the REC MODE, select Menu button in Camera Shooting Mode. Set the REC MODE to NORMAL).
3. Flash will not work with modes like ISO(High Sensitivity Mode), Twilight Mode, ISO+(Extra High Sensitivity Mode), Fireworks Mode.
4. Try to set the Flash Mode to Flash Forced ON when the Mode dial is set to M, Landscape mode, Beach Mode, and Scene Mode.

This will resolve the issue with the Flash in the Camera.

Flash is not working

1. You can not use the Flash when the Camera is set to Burst or Multi Burst mode.

2. You can not use the Flash when the ISO or Twilight mode is selected in the Scene Selection.

3. You can not use the Flash when mode dial is set to Movie.

Please set the Landscpe mode or Snow mode or Beach mode in the Scene Selection and check if the flash is working.

4. Try initializing the Camera and check if it works normally.

NOTE: Initializing the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camera.

5. Please touch the HOME and select the SETTINGS menu in the Camera. Now, please select the MAIN settings menu. Please select the INITIALIZE option under the MAIN Settings 1 menu.

6. Try to power reset the Camera and check if it helps to resolve the issue. I suggest that you reset the Camera by removing the battery from the Camera and inserting it after 1 minute.

7. If the issue still persists then the Camera requires service.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Canon powershot A520 doesn't work in camera mode. I can look at and edit pictures in viewing mode, but switching to "camera" won't let me take pictures... in this mode it also lets me view pictures already...

Hi!
Do other buttons work? If so, the switch could be broken because it sounds it doesn't switch to the CAMERA mode, just stays at the VIEW mode.
If you're not experienced in repairs, you should give it to a local repair shop or Canon service center.

Sorry for the bad news. I repair these cameras very often.

Only about half the modes work on mode selector dial

Sounds to me like the internal contacts aren't working correctly. Let your local camera store take a look. Hope it's under warranty.
