This depends on the make of the TV and the type of antenna you are trying to attach. If you using an antenna that has a coaxial fitting, then you will want to find the port on the back of your TV. If you have a TV doesn't have a coaxial, you might try looking for an antenna that can connect via USB. Also, there is a possibility your TV doesn't have a built in tuner, if that is the case, you may need to purchase the tuner.
Most all flat panels have digital tuner built in...you will just have to connect antenna then go into menu to tuner or CH search...make sure its on air and not cable then to a channel search.
Dominic, you do not state whether you want large outdoor antenna or simple indoor.
If you bought your HDTV anytime during the past 8 years or so, it should have a built-in tuner for receiving digital over-the-air broadcasts. If you have an older "HDTV-ready" TV that only receives analog signals, you'll need to connect it to a separate HDTV tuner.

You need to get a connection from a local cable or wireless service with a set top box to be connected to the input. Please check with your local operator and see if the set top box is needed for the digital feed. Otherwise you might need a dish with the LNB to be used to the TV. Digital tuner means that the tuner is working to scan and memorising the full band width of the channels with digital processing and thus faster and crisp. Check the details of the TV from a forum: http://reviews.cnet.com/direct-view-tvs-crt/philips-32pt9100d-32-crt/1707-6481_7-31473699.html
Make sure you have a good connection from antenna to TV. Check antenna and cable and cable connection to TV. Select DIGITAL button on TV remote when wanting HD channels. Remember HD channels are always digital. Also, any given TV station may not be broadcasting in HD at a given time. They can broadcast in digital but in standard definition sometimes. Your TV has a built-in DVB-T tuner. Try executing a channel scan to pick up all available channels. On-screen menus go to Digital Setup, then Digital Tuning, you can auto-tune or manual tune channels. The TV should take a few min. to scan thru available channels and store the channels its finds. Check with anyone in your area to see if they get HD channels (it is possible to be outside of the range of some TV stations) Your TV is a 2006 model and should still be compatible with local digital TV broadcasts but keep in mind digital signals could change in the near future (DVB-T2) and you may need a tuner/converter box to make the TV compatible.
Your cable system is probably QAM (digital cable). The tuners built into the TV are analog and digital OTA tuners (ATSC and NTSC). If you connect the Cablevision box to the component video input (and connect the audio out of the box to the appropriate audio in) on the TV and an appropriate antenna to the coax (antenna) input, you will be able to swap use the tuners in the TV. (See tvfool.com for antenna types and direction or antennaweb.org for directions of the most likely stations to be received at your location. antennaweb assumes an external antenna and is conservative in the list it provides.)
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (please note, you probably need to get the component video cables. These have 3 RCA plugs on each end (red, green and blue). To carry the audio you need a cable with 2 RCA plugs on each end (red and white). Match the colors as you connect them.)
Hi,
all new tvs should have a built in digital tuner. Make sure that tv is set to receive antenna signal and not cable by going into the menu. Use autoprogram feature if you haven't done so already. it will lock onto whatever signal is strong enough for it to see. Also if you are using an indoor antenna it may not be able to get enough signal to the box. Indoor antennas are not the greatest especially if the station is far away.
Yes. You can use a regular antenna for any flat panel HD TV. You're only limitation the type of antenna and whether or not your flat panel TV has a built in digital tuner. If it does, you'll be able to scan for digital channels without any additional components, including the High Def ones, though you may not get every channel available with a set of rabbit ears. A roof top antenna will give you a stronger signal and more channels. If your TV does NOT have a built in digital tuner, you'll have to purchase a digital converter box and attach your antenna to it to receive the digital and HD channels. Good luck.
Your TV has a built in tuner but NOT a built in antenna. Depending on where you live (distance from broadcasters) you will need to add anywhere from rabbit ears (with the UHF loop) to an antenna on the roof or mast.
If your home already has an antenna installed, connect the coaxial cable to the back of your TV. Then go to "Set-up" and scan for DIGITAL channels. If you are trying rabbit ears, do the same.
