Two beeps usually means a parity memory failure, but it changes form bios to bios.

Here's what I suggest....

Toshiba Technical support is free for all owners of Toshiba computers and laptops for life, even if you bought the laptop second hand.

I don't know where you are in the world but go to the Toshiba website and look up your technical support phone line and give them a call.

Yes. Could be a clue to a hardware issue. There are different manufacturers of BIOS... some differences in what the codes mean.

Is it 4 short beeps or a combination of short and long?

Try removing and re-seating your memory card.

4 beeps wont turn on screen stays black

Four beeps indicates -
The system clock/timer IC has failed or there is a memory error in the first bank of memory.

Try replacing the CMOS/RTC battery (consult your manual), if it does not help, you might need a new motherboard.

Good Luck!

Hi,

Thank you for sharing the beep code. It means that its a problem with the Video Card and Video Cards are usually buit-in to the Motherboard for laptops. The only way to fix it to replace the Motherboard in order to get the new Video Card. Hope I've helped you somehow.

Check the RAM. If that's not it, you may have a problem with the graphic card.

Remove the 1 gig chip. Pull you battery out and unplug the laptop. Hold the power button in for 10 seconds. Put the battery back in and plug the laptop back in again and try booting it up. This should reset the BIOS and allow it to boot. The beep codes you are talking about are a memory beep code and it is normally caused by adding memory or a loose memory stick. Also try pulling the existing memory and resetting it.
