Hi, we have an Arctic Air frig R22CWF3 One or 2 times a week the compressor and fan stop. It gets up to about 60 degrees before it starts up again. I'm not sure how long it is off. We can't trust it with perishable foods. Is a defrost timer shutting it down? Thanks, Keith, meatguy@pleasantprairiemeats

Yes its a timer and/or a Klixon switch that mounts to the Evap coil. It sounds like the timer is working, because it will come back on after a time out. I would look for the klixon to be bad. Small switch with two wires that mount to the evap coil pipes with a clip. This (makes) to tell the timer its ok to defrost, then at a certain temp say 55 degs it will break to stop defrost. The timer is staying in to a default time of aprox 45 mins.

That problem may take a little work finding but that is no problem if you can pull away from the wall and unplug. Then remove the lower cover that covers the compressor area so you can feel the top of the compressor. Feeling the top of the compressor tells me several things like if it has been running all this time or if very hot it will tell me that the compressor has been short cycling. Compressors short cycle for a few reasons and one is the start components photo #8 and #4 in this photo here=> ASD2628HES_COMPRESSOR_Components Another reason may be the evaporator fan or the condenser fan #20 in the photo link above are not staying on or there is an airflow restriction. When the compressor runs there should be a good steady flow of warm air from below the refrigerator. That warm air is the warm conditions being removed from inside your refrigerator. The most likely reason for this is the start relay/overload or number 4 in the photo has become defective. That is this=> Relay Overload with Start Capacitor

With that part out and able to get the=> 65889-4 15uf run_capacitor
out I would carry the run capacitor to a local refrigeration dealer and ask if they would test your run capacitor for free. I will be here if you should have questions beyound what I have mentioned here today, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My Frigidaire refrigerator is at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and will not cool down

There are a few possibilities. First, Is the freezer portion working okay? If yes, then the problem is blocked air flow from the freezer to the frig. If no, then the cooling fan could be bad or the thermostat could be bad. First check for temperature in Freezer section, should be about 4-8 degrees no more. If it is cold, then locate the cooling fan behind the back of the frig and see if it is moving or listen for movement. If it is moving then rearrange the food in your freezer compartment.and frig compartment away from the vents. If it is not moving, then the thermocouple could be bad. compressor problems and freon leaks are not that common unless the frig has been moved alot. The cooling fan or thermocouple or overstuffed freezer compartment are the usual suspects in 90 % of cooling problems. cooling fans and thermocouples can be cleaned by using canned compressed air to remove dust which will sometimes cause a failure. The parts are inexpensive but labor is about $80. Start with the freezer because all of the cooling for the whole unit starts in the freezer.

HI I hope I have reached Sea Breeze because I see someone had the same or similar problem as we are having from our GE GSS25... side by side refrigerator. this person wrote: "Water now comes out but only...

You have a bad main control board . Located behind the refrig , behind an 8 X 10 " panel . Easily replaceable . Sorry , not Seabreeze . You can reach him at seabreeze appliance parts . com , I think .

Unit runs for about 5 min the cuts off. whats the problem?

Hi!!
It could be many things, the most common are Low R22 refrigerant, bad fan motor, bad compressor. obstructed condenser coil, bad starting relay, bad capacitor. among other things.
To check fan motor, set unit to HI Fan Only setting and let it run for a while, check that fan did not loose speed and it is not getting too hot.
If fan is OK, then turn unit to HI Cool 60-65 degrees and see what happens. Hear if compressor kicked in or if just made a humming noise and stopped. if this happens, replace capacitor.

WHIRLPOOL FRIG AND FREEZER NOT COOLING EHOUGH

Well there a couple things you can check. Pull away from wall and remove the lower cover over the compressor. Either the compressor is stopping on and off too much or the evaporator fan or the condenser fan is stopping while you do not know it. Tell me how hot the top of compressor is. We may have a bad motor starter and start capacitor along with overload. Let me know what you find and I may very well get you going again, Sea Breeze
