This is a good way to stop your motor burning out. I use the lighter white cloth filter rather than the purple hepa filter. It puts less stress on the motor and gives a little more suction at the expence of a tiny bit more dust making it through.

Changing filters

You didn't specify which brand of vacuum you need to change a filter on. Or which filter. Many machines have more than one filter.
Usually all you have to do is turn a butterfly clip to take the old filter out, or sometimes, just open a door or cap and it will come out to change it. This usually is not difficult to do.
Giving us the brand, and or model number of your machine, would help immensely, so we can give you assistance. Please post your problem again. Thanks.

Why is the filter change indicater still on even after i changed the filter ?

Probably needs a good clean out around the filter area. Dust has probably got in the way of the sensor which tells the machine the filter has been changed.

How often is it necessary to change the filter one on a Filter Queen Majestic?

The best thing to do to both, keep your Majestic suction and air flow strongest, and keep from pulling dirt & dust from being pulled past the filters which can cause damage to the motor, and charcoal filter, replace the filter once a month. If you use it longer than that it will both loose suction and will cause your Medipure or Enviropure "charcoal" filters to wear out prematurely. Mark the change date right on the filter or on your calendar to help keep track.

Vacuum getting hot in filter area

That's not abnormal, unless it's getting very hot. Have you changed the filter recently? If the filter is blocked it will get hotter than normal. the filter should be changed every 4 to six weeks of normal usage.

How to change upper filters?

Open the vac as though to change the cone and remove the plastic inner cone with the slotted screw at the bottom.. Underneath you will find a 5" disk , likely coated with fine dust.
That is the one which needs to be changed. Around that disc will be three more screws holding the upper housing onto the vac. These ones are accessible from inside, if changing the motor.
Below the handle of the vac there is a serial number ring and three screws in an offset triangle. If you remove these and the rubber cover for the toe switch, the vac housing will come off. This will reveal the `foam or cotton ``muffler``. You can replace it or wash and dry it if foam. It acts as a muffler more than a a filter....

Filter queen masjestic vacuum cleaner has a light that should light up when the filter needs changing, it doesnt want to light up. I dont think its burnt.

That is a overhead light not a filter light. If your waiting for the light to come on before changing your filter or haveing the vacuum serviced your going to kill it. Every time you empty the container you should replace your white filter come and ONLY use genuine filter queen cones the aftermarket cheap-os will burn up your vacuum.

How often should I change a Hoover Empower filter?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Depending on what type of filter it is, the suggested change for a filter is every 6 months to one year if it is a cartridge filter or HEPA filter, if it is a filter that can be vacuumed off or it might be a washable filter – you can clean it that way until the filter starts to fall apart – then @ that time you would want to replace it @ that time. Please check with you local vac dealer. Filters
It's important to replace your vacuum filter or HEPA filter regularly to keep your Hoover vacuum working best. Not only will this increase the life of your vacuum, it will also keep unwanted dust, dirt and allergens out of the air. Keep your home Hoover clean with genuine Hoover filters.
So If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
