Why am I getting a channel not available message on a Magnavox 19mf288b/f7

Check antenna or channel input (cable/satellite providers)

It sounds like it lost its set up, on remote enter set up and press ok and let it re-scan channels again

There does not seem to be any firmware updates for the Magnavox MDR537H/F7. Magnavox electronics are built by Funai. The current list of firmware from this manufacturer here: http://www.funaiservice.com/firmwareupdate.php . This page has firmware for the MRD513H/F7. Documentation for the MDR537H/F7 is available here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?ctn=MDR537H/F7&hlt=Link_ProductInformation&mid=Link_ProductInformation&scy=US&slg=ENG . If the digital tuner can pick up the HD channels, then I don't see why it can't record them. However some TV channels have blocking on them to prevent recording. If it can't record a channel it will say so with a message, generally.

It won't allow. This is a common fault.

Do you have a digital converter box. If not, you need to get one to receive the analog channels.

I'm not sure about the model number of your TV, as here it is marked as both "27MS343S and 32MF338B/F7". Anyway I gies this solution as for the first denoted.
Insert antena to the antena socket at the back side of your TV marked as 75Ohms antena input.
[1] Press "Menu" button on the remote control handset to display menu on screen.
[2] Press "Vol+ or Vol--" button repetedly to hilight "TUN" [Tuner].
[3] Press "Ch+ or Ch--" button to hilight 'AUTOPROGRAM"
[4] Press "Vol+" to programming tv channels.
Tv will tune and store channels transmitted channels at that time, through entire bands, and will display the first channel receved after tuning process completed. It may take some minutes. You have to wait it to complete. After displaying the first channel, you can select your favourite channel Using CH+ or CH--" buttons. Ok.
