Power won't go into my tc1000 unless I tape down the jack at a steep angle. Two friends have the same problem.

and download the manual. read and see the pictures.
Most people do not have the patience for the care it takes to mark and note everything as it comes out. Beware of static, it really can KILL YOUR MOTHERBOARD DEAD!
Be sure to ground the board and use a heat sink. Stick your screws to a piece of masking tape with their locations written on it. Use baggies for the small parts. A sneeze can blow the smaller screws all gone to the floor. A couple of terrycloth bath towels on the floor can stop a skittering part before its gone from sight, use white.
I have been into 5 tc1000s and 2 tc1100 (they are different) using the manual on another PC in front of me and they all worked when I was done, just be careful, patient. Don't twist the mainboard at all! They are still a lot of dollars!
If it doesn't come easy, you probably missed a screw!
This is a great time to upgrade RAM too, you can put 512 on the main slot and 512 in the user slot for a gig. They say 768 is max but guys are doing it. You will need to watch the different types of RAM for the slots.
Good luck!
Sounds like an AC adapter connector issue. Probably a cold solder connection. You need to completely disassemble the laptop and visually inspect this connector. Touch up the solder contacts. This should fix you up. You will need a torx 9 screw driver to disassemble the unit. Also it's imparitive that you remember the locations of the removed screws. Soldering skills come in handy too.
