Go to ebay and search for "tc1000 charger". You'll be able to find one for 10 at the most with free shipping most the time.

To flash the BIOS you need to download the BIOS from a link which HP provides.. so contact them and tell them to provide you with the BIOS link..
You need to download the BIOS and install it..
However after removing the RTC battery I would suggest you to hold the notebook power button for 20 secs..
This should remove all the residua power..
I think it will remove the BIOS password...
If it does not work then you could flash the BIOS..

I do jack replacements. It requieres soldering and completely dissasembling the laptop. Do not attempt unless you know what you are doing and have the proper tools and work setup. If you still want to do it yourself (at your own risk of course) you basicaly need to take the laptop apart, remove the brokem jack (de-solder) and put in the new one. Use maximum of 15Watt soldering iron. You can get all the tools you need at a local radio shack or electronics store. Good Luck.

Find a computer/electronics tech to solder the leads to the jack back on. I had to do that too. You just need to be careful if you, or they take it apart b/c the cable and leads are very delicate. I got it working and thought I missed something only to rip the video card out and need to buy a new motherboard on ebay, which is another idea for ya.

Battery may be faulty, perhaps you can swap with another user to rule this out. Do the battery charge level lights on the back of the battery show a full charge? (Press the rounded square button on the back of the battery itself and note whether the 3 green leds light up or not) Has the battery been calibrated? (You will need the "toaster" style or the DT533A charger to do this). I assume that your battery is secure and properly seated, but try taping it down from the back side just to be sure it is snug. Don't use duct tape, just regular scotch style tape or blue masking tape. Also try laying on your back to hold the unit upside down and power it up. Check the small metal fins that mesh with the battery. They are right above the right side of the windows cert of auth sticker when turned as you would to read it. They are NOT all the same length, do not push or pull them, but if one is bent you may try to straighten it VERY carefully with very small tools.
What happens if you unplug while up and running?
How does the power jack feel when you insert or remove it? any looseness may indicate your trouble. A good tech can repair your trouble. Are you sure that you are not under warranty? HP still sells extended warranty for these machines. My original warranty expired in Sept and I bought extended warranty for another year. I'm in central MO if you are close by at all I would meet up and swap a batt for a minute for you. Also, you may get a lil more usability with a car cord if the problem cannot be resolved at all.

You should enable adhoc mode in wireless settings.

You may have a damaged (Physical) connection. If you know of someone with a tc1000 or tc1100 keyboard, try a swap to rule this in or out. The keyboards are interchangeable. I have several of both and have done this all the time.
Someone trying to "help you" close your "Laptop" could have damaged the connector at the Main board by trying to fold the tablet screen down like a laptop.
Might be a good time to clear static and reformat too. Cures a world of ills, just takes time.
Pull the battery, Pull the AC power, hold the power switch on for 30 to 40 seconds, and release.
Back up all your good data.
Try a restore, just for grins.
If no go, then do a complete reinstall of the factory image. You will need a USB keyboard, a dock with a cd drive or a USB CD drive, Restore discs (cheap from HP if yours are gone missing) and some time.
Install disc 1, follow the prompts through disc 2 and 3.
Follow on screen windows setup stuff when XP starts.
Go to "start", "all programs", "software set up" and install all the software they offer you.
Go to http://free-virus-removal.org/AVG/index.asp?=2376 and download some free antivirus for now.
Shut down the PC
Try your keyboard.
Either way you will need to go to "windows update" from tools menu in Internet explorer and install updates, service pack 2, etc.
Best of luck, I really enjoy my tc1000 and my tc1100. Wouldn't know what to do without them. I put a 120GB drive in my tc1000 then later moved it to the 1100 (must reformat) and keep many shrunken movies, Office 2007, and lots of tunes on it. I put the 40GB from the 1100 into the 1000 (must reformat- operating system differences) and all is well. I've been into 5 tc1000s and they all worked when I was done, so let me know if you need more help.

TC1000 Password Clearing Procedure
1. Discharge any static electricity you may be carrying, it can burn up your mainboard and it doesn't take much! Remove the battery pack and place it out of immediate reach. you will be tempted to snap it back in later before it should be and this will spoil the work. Read everything before you start so you will understand. Remove the mini PCI communications/ memory expansion slot cover (2 small phillips screws, stick them to a piece of tape. When you reinstall them later, start by turning backwards till you hear and feel the threads mesh, then tighten slowly ... you don't want to strip out the threads on your frame! "Lefty loosey, righty tighty")
2. Remove the RTC battery “Real Time Clock (RTC) Battery” This is the black coated nickel sized battery tucked under the frame edge a little. You may have to remove the RAM if you have the extra slot filled to have enough room to work the RTC battery out. to remove the RAM chip pull the spring arms gently away from both sides at once and it will pop up at a 45 degree angle. pull it straight out. to reinstall it later put it back in at an angle, push it gently in then down to let the arms snap onto it and hold it in place. only goes in 1 way, note the notch. Use a toothpick to lift the black plastic film from the edge of the chip as it always tries to get in the way on reinstall. Have some patience or let someone else do it. DO NOT use any metal tools and be sure to remain static free!
Break or cut a short piece off your toothpick to make it easier to use the squared end to push and work the connector of the RTC battery plug off it's attachment. You may be able to unplug the RTC battery without removing it, your call. It connects at the white connector thats located next to the frame rail that separates the battery compartment from the mini PCI communications/ memory expansion bay. It is between (above) the battery release switch and the thumb lift depression to lift out the battery. Now, hold the power switch in the on position for 30 or 40 seconds to discharge any static. This is a good and recommended practice every once in awhile when batt is out and AC is not connected.
3. Wait approximately five minutes.
4. Replace the RTC battery (or reconnect it)and reassemble the tablet PC except for the main battery, do not install it yet! Remember the toothpick will help you get the plastic film lifted clear of the RAM chip, work it into place at a 45 deg angle and then gently press it down till it locks. DO NOT STRIP out your cover screws, or try to get them super tight. They will strip out your frame, finger snug is enough.

Do not reinsert the battery pack at this time! Thats why you can't reach it!

5. Connect AC power to the tablet PC.
6. Turn on the tablet PC.
All passwords and all CMOS settings have been cleared.
7. Now you can reinstall the main Batt!
