My hotpoint wms38 washing machine - when the drum is spinning (not when its 'coasting or winding down', i can hear continuous static sparkling sound. Looking under the machine, I can see continuous bright blue flashes.

Assuming tap water is turned on. If there is no water intake, the machine will not start. Check for the sound of water pouring in the machine. Check the water inlet filter, if it is jammed with foreign materials such as rust deposits, small stones, soil etc. Then check for the proper functioning of inlet water solenoid valve. Sometimes the valve gets stuck.
hello get a bowl or bucket and position the drain hose a low as possible the water should drain out .as for the machine dying do you mean it's total dead if so check the fuse in the plug if ok then check the fuse inside the washer's power supply it's a glass type hope it helps
If you can hear a buzzing sound during the spin cycle and yet the agitator is not spinning, then there is a problem on the motor itself. maybe you should change the motor or its windings.
Do you hear the motor spinning loud whirring noise,when drum is not,if so drum belt has come off or snapped,if no noise possible brushes on motor need replacing
Hello I think that the drum bearings have gone on the machine..
To open the door and spin the empty drum quickly by hand and you should hear the noise or say a less amplifed one.. Also another way to check is to move the inner durm up and down to see if there is any play in it..

normally i would suggest changing motor carbons for hotpoint washers, but my experience is that the WMA motor armature is weaker than the carbons, normally if there is no connection fault a replacement motor is the answer 9 times out of 10, not a job for the amature
