Probably lost the voltage regulator, that's the board you soldered on.

5500 generator stopped producing eletric after

First check with the dealer and see if it is still under warranty. If it is not, make sure nothing is blocking the air flow around where the control modules are located. This could cause the voltage regulator and other electronic parts to overheat. Next check the brushes and make sure they are free of any dust or build up preventing them from making contact.

If everything is OK the next thing I would do is change the voltage regulator.

COLEMAN 5500 GENERATOR. IVE HAD IT 3 YEARS,

Gasoline goes stale after sitting a while and makes starting hard. Three years worth, it's more like jelly! You need to clean the tank, lines, filter, and carburetor. Run it for a while on a little fresh fuel after cleaning, then let it run out of fuel. That will remove most of the fuel from the carburetor. When you want to run it again, add whatever fuel you need, but allow it to run dry again. That's not prefect, but workable.

Generator hard to start and backfiring

Sound like you've done things in the correct order, tecumseh's are notorious for carb problems if you let as sit in them. Backfiring is timing related (flywheel key) or valve problems. I would take a closer look at the exhaust valve I don't believe it is closing all the way.

Coleman Powermate 8750 will not generate electricity.

I had a similar situation with a friends generator. After sitting around unused for a few years it would not generate because the residual magnitism was weak. I plugged a light into it and by using the throttle arm I breifly ran up the RPM and the light came on. DO NOT MAINTAIN THE HIGH RPM FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS.

No electric power generated from my Coleman Powermate Maxa 5000W.

the gensets on coleman generators are definately nothing to brag about but i would start by checking the windings and make sure the brushes have a clean armature to ride on

Not a 6250W but a 6500W Coleman Powermate Black Max.

Call Pramac Co. at 770-218-5430. I get parts from them every week. A service center left holding the bag when Coleman/Powermate went out. Ken's Repair
