Hello,

Doing a soft reset on the nuvi will usually get the nuvi up and running.
If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.
Also running the Garmin WebUpdater and reloading the latest update will resolve most issues.
Download and Install WebUpdater.

The GPS battery may need to be charged.
Does the GPS turn on when connected to a vehicle power cable?

Running the Garmin WebUpdater to load or reload the latest software will usually fix any bugs.

Would you like to back up a copy of your Garmin Nuvi 265W Favorites and Waypoints?

Backup and Restoration Procedure for Favorites:
  1. From the Nuvi drive, copy '/Garmin/GPX/current.gpx' to a backup location on your computer.
  2. After a hard reset or loss of data, copy your backed up 'current.gpx' from your computer back to the '/Garmin/GPX/' folder on the Nuvi, but be sure to rename it 'temp.gpx'.
  3. On the next power cycle, the Favorites will be read from 'temp.gpx' into the non-user accessible memory area on the Nuvi where they are actually stored.
