If both symptoms started at the same time, I would suspect your motherboard has gone bad. Have you tried the monitor and keyboard on a different computer?

SOURCE: LG Flatron monitor remains in Power Saving Mode

Sounds like an issue with a memory card or pci card not properly in place. Try opening up the sytem, then make sure each card is properly inputted in it's slot. This may cause the the monitor to show power saving mode especially if the memory is not properly placed.
Thanks

SOURCE: Inspiron 530S Power Save Mode Loop

First you need to make sure that there are no other removable devices plug on the system, like usb, external hard drives, then if that will work try to go to the bios, press f2 when you see the dell logo, and go to the system setup, go to the boot device configuration and make sure that removable device is not the first boot device, if it is the first one choose hard disk and then second boot device ad cd rom/dvd rom and then disable the 3rd boot and the fourth boot device. Make sure to save the changes. And restart the system again. Once the computer is back and running try to go to support.dell.com and check the bios, download if there is a bios update for the system.

SOURCE: dell monitor dialog box says monitor is in the power save mode

Actually, it most likely is not the monitor which is in "power save mode", it is the computer itself.

When you cannot get a computer out of "power save mode" by any other means, typically the cause is that the button-cell-type battery of your computer, which is located on the motherboard, is empty.

Usually, this happens on a computer which is a few years old, since its batteries will have run out after such a long time. (The motherboard battery is used to store various settings when the computer power is off, such as date and time. When your computer detects this battery is empty, it goes into a low-power mode).

The solution is to replace the button-cell battery on the motherboard of your computer:

  • open the case of your computer;
  • visually locate the motherboard (the main electronic circuit board) of your computer;
  • visually scan the motherboard for a button-cell battery (it looks like a digital watch battery, but a bit larger);
  • remove this motherboard battery from your computer;
  • restart your computer: it should now power up normally (you may get some warning messages during the start-up sequence, but ignore them);
  • set the date and time of your computer using the "Date and Time" control panel;
  • you can now use your computer normally, but you will lose date and time settings when you disconnect the computer power cord, since there is no motherboard battery present to store them;
  • take the motherboard battery to an electronics store and get a replacement;
  • install the new battery in your computer;
  • restart your computer, and set the date and time again; the settings will now be saved using motherboard battery power.

SOURCE: My Gateway 500s monitor is stuck in power save mode

Try tapping the F8 key while booting the computer, you will get the start up menu, choose safe mode, when you log on, go to the display settings, that is right click on the desktop, properties, screen saver, advanced and make sure that hibernation is off, along with turn off disks or whatever , probably see turn off monitor after XX minutes, I make ours 15 minutes (150 computers and servers), I don't let the disks turn off. Choose always on also, not home/office. Try this and see if these settings help.

Power saving mode

Power saving modes are automatic for some LCD monitors some have setting like after 20 ,30 mins to an hour the computer monitor itself will go into standy saving modes like power led switch indication go to yellow led lighting or the monitor of the lcd screen go blank if ur computer have no pictures for displaying as a screen saver modes.Power saving modes it best for uses if ur computer it on all day long.If u don't touch the mouse or a keyboard the monitor will go in the power saving modes for less electricities consumption for less stress for the monitor electronic components for working to hard for the monitor not to malfuctions sooner or the monitor life cut too short because the computer it on all day.

HI kissakiwi,

In the control panel's power option , you need to change the SYTEM STANDBY settings to never , and then the problem would be solved.

There are three options , turn of monitor, turn of hard disk and , system standby , if you select all of these three to 'never' then you won't have this problem.

Remember you can also change the settings via the screen saver tab when you right click and select properties on the desktop.

Let me know in case you have any queries. Hope this helps ...:)

WHY IS THE POWER LIGHT ON MY MONITOR NOT COMING ON? Make sure the power button is ON and the Power Cord is properly connected to a grounded power outlet and to the monitor.
THE POWER LIGHT OF MY MONITOR IS ON AND THE COLOR IS AMBER, BUT THERE IS NO VIDEO OR DISPLAY. WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THIS? Your computer may be in screen saver mode, it has instructed the monitor to go to power saving mode, or the the monitor's video cable is not properly connected to the computer. Another possible cause of this is a locked-up or in-operative computer since the computer is what supplies the monitor with all the display data or information. Move the mouse or press a key to de-activate the screen saver or power saving mode. Check the monitor's video cable and make sure it is snugly connected to the computer. To see if the computer is operating properly, press the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard repeatedly while checking the CAPS LOCK light. If the light is not turning ON & OFF, the computer is non-functional. Contact your computer manufacturer for help.
