Both the the left and right have large color blobs, more intence at times, shows more on blk/white

There is a degaussing resistor that activates when tv is first turned on and purifies the screen so there is no color contamination, sometimes it will become defective or develope bad connections on the circuit board. The part looks like a box "black/green" and is located near the power cord. If it has stopped working it would explain the color blotches. To fix it! the part needs to be replaced or resolded back on the board and a degaussing coil used to give it the once over, tv tech carries one just for that purpose. The other possibility is if speakers are to close to the viewing screen the magnet will leave blotches and must be degaussed to correct it.

Screen has black blotches/spots

This could be due to a bad video card, but is much more likely to be a problem with your screen itself. What you described is likely to be caused by damaged or dead pixels in the screen. The cost of one is usually about half of the cost of the laptop itself, so you may want to consider buying a new laptop and salvage your data and other usable parts from this one.

I accidently held a magnet up to my TV screen and its busted up. How do I fix it?

Magnets and projection screens do not mix well. When you say `busted up` it could mean a few things.

If it means blotches of color on the screen
-Caused when your projection TV becomes magnetized.
Fix:
-Use a strong magnetic coil and make circular motions around your projection TV screen starting on the upper left corner.
-Increase the size of the circles you're making until you've covered the entire screen. Slowly move away from the screen; continuing to make circular motions with the magnet.
-When the magnet loses contact, the color blotches should be gone.

hope this helps

Color distortion

Move any speakers or electrical devices away from the set. It could also be anything electronic or magnetic. Anything near the set that generates a magnetic or electromagnetic field could be causing the distortion.
