is it a recent problem?

if it is check the printer cable , sometimes it builds ip static and by removing the cable and re inserting can rectify the problem.

You can try to re install the printer drivers

Hi,
First of all we will have to check the slot size.If the slot is for mmc then you will have to use an adaptor.MMC slot is big in size and sd to MMC converters are available.
Don,t try to insert the card forcefully it may damage the reader's pins.

No you cannot, but if you go to http://www.mcmelectronics.com and look under computer products you can purchase an adapter box which will plug in to a usb port on your computer and the box will accept just about any memory card on the market which you can then download your picture(s). The D7160 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work with this printer. You need to use SD cards, 2GB or smaller.

I am using a stand alone photosmart 8450 ( with out computer ) it will print every memory card except SDHC the cards are fine as I use them in my Pentax camera

The 8450 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them. SD cards will work in SD and SDHC devices, but SDHC cards will not work in SD devices.

The 8250 works with SD cards. Your 4GB cards are actually SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work (SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around). You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Memory card error message when sd card inserted

Try to read the card in another card reader or a computer that has a reader slot. If it can read it then you may need to download a driver for that card to enable your HP to read it. If on the other hand your computer can read identical cards made by the same SD manufacturer as your unreadable SD card then there may be a problem with the connection of your pc to the pins in this particular SD card. In that case, you need to transfer the files from the card to another device and load them to your pc.

No you cant open the reader with the keyboard. You have to use it manually only. Actually you do not have to open any because card reader has ony slots into which you insert the cards. And Dell provides dummy plastic cards with the laptops. Just hold it and pull it out. Then insert your actual card. All cards have different sizez and so ar the slots of the card reader.
