How do I prevent loosing data when my battery discharges
My e355 pocket pc sometimes gets low battery and then I loose all my data. I don't always have an up to date backup to the sd card of everything on the pocket pc. Isn't there some sort of battery backup to the rechargeable battery to prevent the loss of data?
Re: how do I prevent loosing data when my battery...
Hi. Actually, on pocket pcs there's a backup battery onboard, but in your case maybe backup battery is dead. So you can have that changed or you can charge your PDA on regular basis. Hope this helps.

Your hard drive may be toast, but then again it may just be loose.
If you understand electronics (and how to discharge static) check the connection to the hard drive & tighten if needed. Remove & reinsert if a laptop.
Otherwise, take it to a shop to have it checked. Sometimes a hdd that wont boot, will give up it's information, but you should ALWAYS get a quote first. Data recovery can run from ~$65/hr to thousands.
As per my knowledge,
Windows Mobie Pocket PCs with a Windows Mobile 2003 and later platform lose all the data when the battery is removed or too low due to the volatile nature of your PPC's memory.
This problem has been solved from Windows Mobile 5 onwards.
Thats all that I can tell you.
Check your power options they may be set up to drain your battery instead of conserving it. click start>control panel>power options. In power schemes make sure its laptop/Note and set to a level to conserve as much power as possible while on battery. Always use Hibernate when leaving the computer for a while none of your data will be lost. Click the hiberate tab to enable hiberation. As for as the pugin goes its attached to the motherboard. So it would be best to have a PC repair shop fix it for you. Hope this helps.

"Keep the battery charged.
The programs and files you install or create are stored in volatile RAM memory. If the battery
completely discharges, all user-installed programs and user data files
created will be erased and you will have to reinstall them. To prevent
losing valuable programs and files, keep the battery always charged.
Optionally, you can store a limited number of programs and files in the
iPAQ File Store folder so that if the battery completely discharges, they
will not be lost." the store, is a NVram?, not flash. and the STORE has a battery

If your cellphone supplier won't demo it, then it's best to say it's not going to work.
Instead, the outlook is that WiFi hotspots will be the way to go since you won't get soaked on cell charges.
