The carburetor may need to be serviced. You need to find a parts shop that handles Tecumseh parts. You will most likely need a rebuild kit for the carburetor. The carburetor part number is 640303. The rebuild kit is 632809. The Tecumseh engine company shut its' doors 3 years ago. Finding parts is becoming harder and harder. I've heard that someone has bought Tecumseh over the winter but it is unknown when the new parts will hit the market. Best of luck to you.

I would check the gas cap. If the gas cap is plugged or pieces missing from inside it will not allow air into the tank and the fuel will not flow properly to the carburetor. Just loosen the cap and try it, if it does not change check for dirt in the fuel line.

How to fix stuck pull cord of a 22 inch Toro Recycler lawn mower

Is the engine seized?. Try turning the blade and if it won't turn then you have a seized engine. If that is ok your recoil has a stuck part possibly something has broken off inside. If it's an older model try shooting WD40 inside the recoil as it could be rusty.

Hi, check the crankcase seal directly above the blade carrier. Also check that the crankshaft is not bent as blade carrier damage usually occurs from the blade hitting something hard. Hope this helps, regards Phil

did u turn it on its side? change the air filter. change the plug. turning it on its side could cause a fouling in the plug or air filter to fill up with oil and shoot out on the deck. Use Stabil in the gas in the off season.

My toro recycler lawn mower is seeping oil on the deck. could it be a bad seal? how would i fix it?

It is best to take the machine to a good repair shop like www.arcolawn.com and have a "leakdown test performed." This will prevent you from spending money and time in replacing gaskets that are going to go bad again because the piston rings are bad. If the machine passes a leakdown test then it is worth pulling the engine and installing a new sump gasket. under 20 bolts and you can do it yourself.

www.arcolawn.com has the parts diagrams if you type in your model

I have a 2006 recycler model 20070 and am getting oil on the deck and it seems to be getting worse. Can it be a seal on the fill tube or something else? Also can you give me part numbers for what I...

If your Toro mower came equipped with a Tecumseh engine, then the dipstick seal is a common place for oil to leak. Look under the right side of the red plastic cover that is on top of the engine for an engine ID sticker. Take the model and spec numbers from the engine and go to either your local repair shop, or go to www.partstree.com for your parts. This is a simple repair and can be done with basic hand tools and mechanical knowledge. This is a good time to change to oil, too. Drain, replace gasket, refill.
Good luck!

It sounds like the caarb floats have varnish (a natural byproduct of cheap gas) on them. This varnish will not allow the floats to slide up and down in their slides. Simply removing the bowl on the bottom of the carb (near the air filter)will show you the slides and float. With a clean rag wipe the brown varnish off the slides. drain gas into a can before you remove carb parts, otherwise it will drain onto the mower deck. after replacing all the parts you may have to re adjust the carb needles for air and gas mixture. here is a link to where to find the diagrams. First thing I would do is see if the engine rotates. Remove the spark plug and see if you can spin the engine. If so, then it should be fine. If not, make sure there is not something with the drive system, blade, or starter that is binding and preventing the engine from rotating. Next repair the starter, the pull string starter.

99% of the engine problems today are caused by dirty carburetors. Today's carbs are manufactured with tight tolerances to meet EPA emmission standards...just a drop of water or a spec of grass in the carb can cause issues. Cleaning the carb with compressed air from an air compressor and spray type carb cleaner usually helps in this types of problem.
Also check the start pull cord.Check if the oil level is low. Also check if any blockage in air filter. Clean every thing and re-check. This unit does not have an oil plug on the bottom of the engine, so it needs to be tipped on its side. This is best done when the fuel tank is nearly empty, so gas does not leak out when it is tipped over. The correct oil for your toro is SAE-30W.The air filter should be changed every year. The replacement filter is a Tecumseh 36905, which I found at both Lowes and Home Depot. Also to get required parts and manuals and parts diagram of your toro you can get it from the link below.Click the link. https://homeownersolutions.toro.com/portal/server.pt/community/solutions_home/222).

We have a brand new toro 22 in Recycler lawn mower that we have used 2x and today it stopped working. We are unable to pull the start cord more than 2 inches out so obviously we cant start it. Help.

Check the oil ... does it have oil in it?

Disconnect the spark plug, tip the mower up, can you move the blade? If the blade will not move, the motor may be seized.

No oil = ruined motor ...

If the blade will move freely, there is a recoil starter problem.

You have to remove the whole engine air shroud over the flywheel to gain access to the recoil and rope mechanism. If you need specific help on your exact model engine I need all of engine model type numbers 5 to 6 char then 4 char then 2 char i.e XXXXXX-YYYY-ZZ for B & S Honda numbers are by the engine oil port on the base of the crank case.
