I have a Dell XPS 700 and now it boots but shows orange LED but never goes to an active screen. Does anyone know what the problem is?

The battery was replaced once last time this happened and it fixed the problem now its doing it again. I replaced the battery again but now its still not getting past the orange LED.

SOURCE: My Dell XPS 400 PC will not Boot up past the "System password"

Both the system password and the BIOS password are set in the BIOS CMOS. You need to clear the CMOS.

The online Dell service manual for the XPS 400 provides a clear and detailed procedure for clearing the CMOS. It's just a matter of moving some jumpers around:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps400/sm/index.htm

If you are not used to working inside computers, start with "Removing the computer cover", then go to "System Setup" and click on "Clearing Forgotten Passwords".

Another method is to unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for a 1/2 hour or so. For details on how to do that, try this website:

Its not booting and the back light a and c are yellow

The service manual for the Dell XPS 8300 doesn't show ABCD LED diagnostic lights. On other Dell models Y-G-Y-G indicates a video problem.

Dell XPS M1210 Stuck on blue screen due to hard drive

To determine if your hard drive is bad or good, run the Dell diagnostics.
Here is a link for the owner's manual of your model:

My dell xps 700 will not boot up. On the diagnostic lights it shows 1 3 4. Says memory in the owners manual. I took it to a guy he says its the mother board. what is your answer

it could be the memory controller, which is a part of the motherboard. a memory controller error would appear as a ram issue, until you tried replacing the ram, and it still shows the error.

it is very easy to test ram. just take out all but 1 ram stick and try to boot. if it does not boot, try a different, single, ram stick. it is nearly impossible to have 2 bad sticks of ram, so if 1 of them doesnt work, then it is the motherboard's integrated memory controller.

Front right led flashes 3 orange 1 green ,system starts to boot and then goes to a grey screen with curser i upper right corner and just sits there. i can just touch pwr button and computor shuts down

the flashing Orange and Green LED is a terminal battery failure:

The system not booting to the hard drive could be a HDD failure or a corrupt operating system. Boot to the XP CD, Press R at the 1st prompt to access recovery console, then run CHKDSK /R

Will Not boot

If the light is near the psu plug on the motherboard then this is more likely a power supply issue. If your computer is still under warranty Dell should replace it for free. Hope this helps.
