I attempted to download an update as it requested, but it looks as if it timed out. Now, there is a white bar (the download progress indicator) on every screen. Yes, I turned off and on.

Ipod's USB cable points to itunes icon on Ipod's screen and won't turn on. what can i do?

Hi tifftiffpup...
The ipod is requesting that you hook it up to Itunes...maybe for updates.
If nothing happens after you hook the ipod to itunes then you may have to do a restore.
You can restore you ipod but it will wipe all songs, video, messages, pictures, etc completely off the ipod...sometimes you have no choice but to do that and you have to reload everything back on...
Here is how you do a restore incase you do not know:

1...Make sure you have an Internet connection, you may need to download new updated versions of the iTunes or iPod Software.
2...Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
3...Open iTunes.
Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable that came with your iPod.
4...After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
5...Select your iPod in the Source panel.
You will see some information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
6...Click Restore.
7...A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun.
When this stage is done, iTunes will show one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
8...Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter this typically applies to older iPod models.
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore this typically applies newer iPod models.
9...During part two of the restoreing process, the iPod will display an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display.
NOTE: It is very important that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage of the restore.
10...After the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear.
It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences.
Please take time to rate me.

Why is it that when i listening to songs on youtube broadcasting yourself the song keep stopping?

Youtube downloads the song in the background as you listen to it. If this process, called buffering, happens too slowly, then youtube will pause.
Make sure you aren't downloading anything in the background, otherwise you'll need to load the page, pause the video, and let it sit for a few moments before playing. Getting a faster connection can solve this problem.

After formating; i get error 800b0100 at the 39 minute of setup. This occurred 6 times. I did a complete format 3 times and quick format 3 times

Windows Update Error 800B0100
If you receive the Windows Update error 800b0100, it means that a file needed by Windows Update is not registered with Windows correctly. The System Update Readiness Tool can correct some conditions that cause this error. To use the tool, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the System Update Readiness Tool webpage. In the Information for advanced users section, find the version of Windows and system type of your computer, and then click the link to download the System Update Readiness Tool. If you don't know which version of Windows you have, see View your computer information.
  2. Run Windows Update again.
gl_ico.png Note Typically, the scan takes 15 minutes or less, but it can take longer on some computers. The Windows Update progress bar is not updated during the scan, and progress seems to stop at 60% complete for some time. This behavior is expected. The scan is still running and you should not cancel the update.

My side buttons on my ipod wnt work neither will any of the other buttons you can see the screen only when it one the computer charging

  1. Connect your iPod to your computer and attempt to synch your ipod.
  2. Backup all the files on your iPod onto your hard drive. Restoring your iPod will wipe out all your music.
  3. Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple.com. Since iTunes is set to update itself periodically, you probably already have the latest version already.
  4. From iTunes, click on your iPod name in the left navigation bar. It will bring you to the summary page.
  5. Click "Restore" on the updater and your iPod will restore itself to factory settings (also resulting in losing all of its music).

    1. Click the prompts to indicate that you really want to go through with this. If using Windows, you will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. Holding down the SHIFT key before clicking the Restore button will allow you to browse your computer for version of firmware you wish to use. The 4 possible restore options are:

    2. Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
    1. If using a Mac, a progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.

    2. Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    • Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
    1. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    2. Follow the instructions of the iTunes setup assistant. Let iTunes autofill it with music again and you will be set to go!

MacBook Software Updater - continually prompts to install an update

You're probably not actually flashing the firmware, but downloading the utility to do so. Follow these steps:
    1. Quit all other open applications. Open the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware update which is in your Utilities directory

    2. Click Shut Down in the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update window and wait for your computer to shut down.

    3. Press and hold the power button on your MacBook Pro until the power indicator light flashes repeatedly, then release the power button to begin the update.

A status bar indicates the progress of the update.

Important: Do not interrupt the update.

Your computer restarts automatically when the update is completed and opens the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update.

    4. Click OK, if the firmware is now up-to-date.
