SOURCE: howto thread a twin needle on Janome 6019

Hi there. If you have an acessory kit with your machine, there should be a plain spindle with a smaller bottom on it. There should also be a small hole on the top or back of your machine where your thread goes.. And yes you can thread both strands of thread thru the same areas till the needle.

SOURCE: how do I thread the machine using a twin needle?

its basically the same as a normal needle, but nearest the needle most machines have a way to divide the thread before the needle hole. Some machines have a left and right thread guide a couple of "steps" before the needle, but at some point they have to travel together, and this doesn't seem to be a problem. Make sure you lessen the tension as there is still only one bobbin thread, and triple check the needle is in the middle and that you are on straight stitch or you might break it!

SOURCE: Can I use a twin needle on my Janome MW3018?

Twin needles can be used on any machine. Just make sure you use the correct presser foot......one that allows both needles to work without hitting the foot. Also.........you cannot zig-zag or use any other fancy stitch with a twin needle.......it is strictly for straight sewing. You have to use 2 spools of thread .....thread your machine with both threads as if they were one thread but separate the threads when you get to the needle. There is no change to the bobbin. Happy sewing. I can't be bothered to go to all this trouble so I just sew 2 rows to get the same look. Ofcourse you have to be very good at sewing perfectly straight seams doing it this way. Try both methods on a scrap and see which method you prefer.

Can I use a twin needle on a Singer Trafition? It seems to only sew one line of stitches.

Probably depends on the model. Was a twin needle included with your starter kit?

This one indicates it will take a twin needle:
2277 TRADITION

Your owner's manual or the product specifications are probably the best source for information.

Instruction Manuals

BTW, you are using 2 spools of thread, right? You need to thread both needles with separate spools (do not twist the threads when threading!).

How to Use Twin Needle on Your Sewing Machine

Be sure to verify the machine is set to straight stitch. Any zig-zag could break one or both needles!

You also will have to thread the needles manually as the needle threader will not work on twin needles.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread!

Thread breaks on the 2340CV Brother. Doing two needle and the right needle is breaking at the needle. Change needle and retreaded several times

Probably depends what that needle is hitting that is causing it to break. Make sure the presser foot and the needle plate hole are large enough to accommodate the twin needle. Twin needles come in different widths so if yours is too wide, it would break. However, it could be possible that your machine is slightly out of alignment that does not show up until you try to use a twin needle. Also, make sure that your thread is not causing the needle to break--could be misthreading. Some machines have separate guides and tension disks for twin threads. Those that don't have that accommodation may have more difficulty using a twin needle.

I just need instructions to thread a Bernina Virtuosa 160 for pintucking

Your owner's manual should have instructions for using a twin needle.

Most machines can use a twin needle. However, some machines have two tension disks so one can separate the two threads and get equal tension. (The Bernina 930 has two tension disks, so am assuming your newer machine does also.) Look at the top of your machine where the tension mechanism resides and see if there is a right and left side. In either case, do NOT thread both threads at the same time as the threads can become twisted. When threading the machine, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot, thread one thread completely. If threading the left side of the tension disk, also thread the left needle. Then thread the second thread, making sure to use the other side of the tension disk and needle.

Just a reminder to be careful using any zig-zag or decorative stitches since a twin needle requires a narrower stitch width to avoid broken needles.

How to use a twin needle on my SR2000 toyota sewing machine

First, verify that your machine can use a twin needle. Most machines take will use a twin needle will have separate thread guides and duel thread spool pins.

To thread it, thread one thread all the way through one of the needles and then thread the second thread through to the second needle. This will help keep the threads from twisting.

How to thread with double needle

You'll need to use two separate spools of thread. Machines that take a twin needle will usually have separated thread guides and two separate tension disks. Just make sure the threads are not twisted when threading. Might be better to thread one all the way through and then thread the second.

How To Use Twin Needles

Be sure to check the width of your stitch when using a twin needle. Because the needles will be wider than a single needle, it is very easy to hit the needle plate if setting it too wide.
