Take cover off. First check the fuse on the circuit board. If it's blown replace it. That should get the motor running, the motor might be or is going out. If the motor is bad you'll have to replace the motor. If the fuse is good and the motor is good, unhook the wires on circuit board that go to the humidity control switch. If the unit comes on with the humidity control switch unhooked, you'll have to replace the humidity control switch. Sears has them for about $11.50. Hope this helps.

Only available for DjVu reader (download link on LG site). You'll need to download and install the plugin then close and relaunch your browser. I was only able to get it to work in IE in the end with Firefox and Chrome not working. IE objected I had to "allow" the plugin to run then once again close and relaunch the browser then it finally worked. Good Luck!

I have a goldstar dehumidifier that runs for a couple min. then turns off. I unplugged the rheostat wires from the mother board and it runs just fine. Does that mean if I replace the rheostat switch the...

Runs for a few minutes then shuts off, easy fix. First, remove water catcher and slide filter out and clean it. Then find the two screws that hold on the front panel remove front panel. Make sure the unit is un-plugged. The humidity control dial has two wires connected to it. clip the inner wire. This will keep the unit on full. You could replace the humidity control dial, but why bother?

What are my humdity settings for DH504E Unit?

Simply put the humidity extraction settings generally range from 35% to 65%. The lower the percentage, the more humidity is removed and the house feels more comfortable. The higher the percentage, the more humidity remains in the house. In the hot humid Summer months, you want the humidity in the house to be as low as possible (i.e. 35%-45%) in the cooler months a higher humidity
( 60%) make the house feel more comfortable and does away with carpet static shock.

Choosing a setting is your decision, based on what I have explained above and your own comfort level.

I hope my information has helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a Goldstar Dehumidifier, model # GHD30y7 (S No 611TADR26946). It has worked well for a couple seasons. This season it will not stay running. It cycles on but shuts off after a couple minutes. I have...

Kreston, check the humidity level you have it set on. It may be that there is not enough humidity in the air for what you have it set on and it automatically shuts OFF.

Keep in mind, whatever level (percentage) you have it set on, is what it will maintain, not remove.
For example - if you have it set on 65%, that's pretty high level of moisture/humidity. But, it's not how much it's going to remove from the household air. Unless, the humidity level rises above 65%. Then it will only remove enough to maintain 65%.

If you want to remove humidity/moisture, you have to lower the setting below 45 to 50%, Try that and I think you'll meet with success.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

My Goldstar dehumidifier model DH304 runs, but fails to pick up any water

If the room air is less than the set air, then there is no water in the bucket, because there is almost no humidity in the air. If it is winter, there is likely not enough humidity in the air to have water collect in the bucket. A dehumidifier will only pick up humidity out of warm air. If you are running a dehumidifier in your basement in the winter, the room may be damp, but too cold for the dehumidifier to pull out the humidity. Try running the unit in the bathroom after having a hot shower without the bathroom fan on. If working correctly the unit should draw water.

Other things that can cause problems: 1.Check to see if the air filter is dirty and/or blocked. 2. The room temperature might be too low, (below 60 degrees Fahrenheit ) 3. Check to make sure that there is no obstruction to the unit that might be causing poor airflow circulation.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem.

Will not run or turn on light will not turn on

Had a similar problem with Goldstar model DH305. A solution was already posted about cutting the two white wire going to humidity control, and it works until tray fills up (no control). However, if you want a complete fix which allows you to control by selecting humidity level go to the following site:

My 2 year old dehumidifier does not remove adequate moisture as before

How much moisture a dehumidifier can remove from the air is directly related to temperature and dew point. Check the relative humidity in the space where it is located.

Dehumidifier Error?

Same problem with Goldstar model DH404EY7 -- stop code 01 on startup, bucket full light blinks (drains to floor).

Replaced the main controller board to fix it.

For my model dehumidifer the part # is 6871A20888A, and cost $77.44 (not counting shipping) from Appliance Factory Parts. The Appliance Factory Parts web site also provides parts breakdown (exploded parts diagram) diagrams and service manuals in PDF form.
