Why does my hydromate motor trip the breaker?

I have a hydromate 2 softspa. It started to hum when I plug it in then trips the breaker after a few seconds. It does spin freely. And if I let it sit it comes back after a couple of hour. But will trip again after a bit..30 min or so.

Drag on the Motor is increasing the HEAT, the HEAT is what is causing the trip. Your motor sounds like it is getting weak.

Where does the wires hook from motor to where? Automatic Doorman 455

Is the door opener motor bad? You say, "the wires"--is there a plug on the end of the wires that can be plugged into an outlet? If so, thy plugging it into an extension cord instead of the outlet in the garage ceiling and see if you still trip a breaker. If you do, it's a problem in the opener. There are things to do to locate the source of the problem. It the breaker trips instantly when you press the button then there's a dead short somewhere. Does the motor get warm or hum before the breaker trips? If so, then maybe the door mechanism is locked up and the motor cant turn. Did you check to see if your garage door is locked?

I have a brand new 1 1/2 hp superflo. I wired it in and turned on the power, it hummed for a few secounds and trip the breaker. now it it wont work and just immediatly trips the breaker. Any ideas as

It sounds like the motor shaft is stuck. The back end of the motor has an end cap that comes off so you can access the end of the motor shaft. Try this with the power off; Remove the cap (center rear of the motor),Using an open ended 9/16 wrench you should be able to turn the shaft back and forth. A motor that has sat for a while will sometimes act like yours did. A nudge with the wrench usually breaks it free. Remove your wrench and turn pump on. If it still won't start the motor may be defective.

Pool pump motor noise/hum would come and go, noise was not constant nor continuous, every few seconds would go from high to low sound but volume would seemed constant. was not an extraordinary noise and...

The problem is the starter capacitor on the back or top of motor depending on make. The capacitor is round and black and about 3 inches long and the diameter of a half dollar. it will have 4 wires with quick disconnects on them, unplug and replace capacitor and put wires back on the same way they came off old one. as far as the noise, the bearings are starting to wear and can be replaced when you get tired of the noise. you will have to take it in to have the bearings replaced.

I have a Jandy stealth series pump and this morning it was not running. The breaker was tripped and when I reset it and turned it on the motor only hums for a few seconds and then the breaker trips...

This sounds like the motor has seized up. You will most likely need to replace at least the motor and maybe the complete pump assembly.
You can take the pump into a local motor shop and see if they can rebuild the motor for you.

Need a point setting for ao smith air compressor ac motor model number opa-0297 s# c56b72b2316508j2 work on air machine with motor installed motor will hum and trip breaker can we set points to stop trip...

try running up this motor when its not installed on the compressor,, if it still blows the trips the motor is faulty,, if it runs ok, but hums when reconted to the compressor the compressor if far to tight for the motor to turn the compressor,,,you can not reset the points in a breaker trip they trip at a set curent if the motor is pulling more amps than the trip is set for it will trip the trip to turn off the curent, the motor will pull far more amps than it should if its over loaded thats why its humming its trying to spin up it but cant so it just keeps pulling more and more amps till the trip cuts out

When unit is plugged in it just hums then breaker on unit trips

Hi, If the motor hums and trips breaker it is froze up, or shorted out. When they lock up like that, they draw a lot of amps which in turn trips the breaker. There is not much you can do but try and remove this motor and replace it. It may be worth it as I am sure the price tag on this heater is not cheap. You can try and get to the motor and see if maybe it is just stuck, as I have had this happen before and get it to work again. More then likely, it has died out on you. Please let me know what you find and keep me posted.
Sincerely,

Pump trips breaker

If the seals are damaged, water will leak into motor section and cause GFI to trip and yet the pump will seem that it is running fine if plugged into a non-GFI receptacle
