How can I get a new AC adapter that is compatible with the Xact X32X-2 Radio?

Check to make sure the batteries are installed correctly. Many times they have an insulator placed between the contacts to keep them from running down.

Not worth the purchase price of batteries. Can buy similar radios for cost of new batteries

Radio Shack no longer markets a charger/adapter made specifically for the PRO-82, but the 6-volt Enercell AC adapter with a size C Adaptaplug will work with your scanner. Radio Shack total retail for the pair is $30, and you can probably find them on line for even less. You might even luck out and find a compatible 6v wall wart on eBay.

battery is drained or dead...take it out and make a way to connect it with correct polarity to a DC source with a voltage 20-30% higher...

Batteries have a life from 1-5 years, the manufactuers stated life depends on how much they were or were not used. Check battery price vs different new radio price, some radio's batteries cost more than a new radio with batteries.

I'm still looking for the manual (?).. it's more of a pamplet as I recall.

If you can't find the right adapter, you can probably get one of the universal adapters that will work.
