How do you open the front panel to check the brushes

if the machine is old the front panel need to be service.Probably the front panel is experiencing partial contact with he control buttons.

Victor. The prewash flashing is indicating a water fill issue. Rinse uses cold water only. check for clogged inlet screen on the cold water valve, and check if there is a screen on the supply valve also. If the inlet screen is all clogged up at the valve on the washer, you can clean it with a little windex and an old soft tooth brush. gently brush away any sediment or debris. If no filters are clogged, you will need to replace the fill valve assembley.

Check the motor brushes and belt.

Firstly check the brush module is correctly located this can be done with a multimeter. you should get continuity between sets of pins. first pin on right of module is earth moving to left next two are the overload(continuity) next three are field coil windings(continuity between at least 2 out of 3 spin speed dependent) next two are brushes(continuity) next two are the tacho.(500 ohms) If this checks out OK. Then most likely you require new power electronic which clips on the back of control electronic

I solved the problem by changing the motor brushes. The pre wash light had started flashing because the water hadn't been turned back on! Doh!

Its probably the motor brushes you need to replace them

hi! there only the solenoid valve for water supply has reciving a source to activate by your timer,the sequence operation of diswashing process has ben ignore,so the faulty was on your timer switch.disabling the motor to function you can check this in your panel front control.be sure to switch of power and service valve for water supply before checking.the fig are just sample as reference
to your dishwasher control panel so you can start where are those control.
open front cover using screw driver,loosen screw holding timer control circuit try to clean all contact if defective replace timer
circuit board,check also the moter control timer using multitester
ser to R1 taking the continuity of terminal and contact point and some multi relay,solenoid valve supply.replace any defective part and reasemble parts after replacement,regard and have a nice day

Sounds like a communication error, there is a ccu on top and a mcu on the bottom, basically a computer and a motor control unit. When there is a problem of this nature I would replace the mcu. I have seen a increase in this problem. This unit is built by Whirlpool and is the same as the duet and kenmore he3.

Check the motor for worn brushes and or noisy bearings while it is removed for service. Any auto mechanic should have experience replacing brushes and bearings. Much cheaper than ordering a new motor. New brushes and bearings should cost around $30. The shop time should not exceed one hour. Miele charges about $50 for brushes if you can not find a local supplier. The W1930 motor that I rebuilt used a 6202Z and a 6201Z bearing set.

Flashing rinse light is a drive fault. No motor action. If it's an earlier model it would be the motor brushes. Later model will be the electronic which controls the motor.
