Windows Vista - Right-Click causes Windows Explorer to Crash
In Windows Vista, I'm unable to right-click on any drive icon (in My Computer) without receiving a 'Windows Explorer has stopped working' message. Everthing else takes a right-click just fine.
Ran Virus scanner and malware scanner and both came up negative.
Tried running Shell Extension Viewer and disabling all 'Context Menu' items thinking that would help narrow it down, but no joy. Also, I don't have a System Restore Point prior to this happening.

when your external drive does not appear in "my computer" in windows vista or windows 7, then just right click on my computer, click on manage, the go to disk management. Find your external drive there and right click on it, then select assign new drive letter. Select a letter from the midlle of the alphabet like m, then enter. The icon of your external drive should appear inside my computer.
Windows XP: Open "My Computer".
Right-mouse-click on the icon for the drive.
Choose "eject".
Windows Vista/7/8: Click Start. Click Computer.
As above, click on the icon, and click on "eject".
Assuming you have one of the Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, etc.) go to Start -> All Programs -> Internet Explorer.
To add a shortcut to the Start Menu, right click on Internet Explorer icon, and select "Pin to Start Menu".
To add a shortcut to your desktop, right click on Internet Explorer icon, and select "Send to" -> "Desktop (create shortcut)"
Find a Missing Internet Explorer Icon in Windows XP
Step 1
Click the "Start" button. Click on "All Programs." Look for an icon called "Internet Explorer." Right-click the icon. Select "Copy" from the menu.
Step 2
Find a blank space on your Desktop and right-click on it. Select "Paste" from the menu. You should see a new icon called "Internet Explorer." Double-click it to make sure that it works.

Open "My Computer" on your Desktop if you were unable to find the Internet Explorer icon in "All Programs." Double-click the "C:" drive. Double-click "Program Files." Open the folder named "Internet Explorer."
Step 4
Select the "iexplore.exe" icon and right-click on it. Choose "Create Shortcut" from the menu. Scroll down to the bottom of the window. Right-click the "Shortcut to iexplore.exe" icon. Click "Copy."

Paste the icon to your Desktop. Open it to make sure it works.

Click the "Start" button and select "Search" from the menu if you are unable to find the "iexplore.exe" icon in your Program Files folder. Search for "iexplore.exe." Locate the file. Right-click it to create a shortcut. Paste the shortcut to your Desktop.
Find a Missing Internet Explorer Icon in Windows Vista
Step 1
Click the "Start" button. Select "Run." In the "Run command" box, type "regedit.exe."
Step 2
Look for the key ""HKEY_CURRENT_USER." Click twice to open it.

Navigate to "Software" and open it. Open "Microsoft," "Windows," "CurrentVersion," "Explorer," "HideDesktopIcons" and "NewStartPanel."

The root drive is always the drive letter with nothing after it. If your external drive is drive E, then the root is E:\. You can see this in Windows explorer. 1. Right click on the My Computer icon on the desktop. OR Right click on the Computer name in the list of components to the right of the program list (Windows 7, Vista) OR Click Start, run, type the word explorer and click OK. 2. Look for the drive letter that says "simpledrive" 3. Click on the drive letter and look for setup.exe

taskmanager is open click applications > new task .write explorer.exe then click ok
