I am getting an "H 4" message and the machine won't print.

For mine to print I have to hit either the subtotal key, or the total key. (# and/or * )

Has the machine been printing a receipt message before? If not, you usually have to turn the message on as well as program the text. Which brand? What is the full model number?

Try going into the print que and either restart or cancel the ones with an error message

Solution: Setting the MX340 back to default settings

Instructions to change the machine back to its default settings.

1. Make sure that the machine is turned on.
   
   

2. Press the Menu button repeatedly until Device settings appears.
   

3. Use the button to select Reset setting , then press the OK button.

   
   
4. Use the button to select one of the following, then press the OK button.
   
   Telephone no. data: Reverts the telephone number settings to default. Setting data: Reverts the machine settings other than the telephone number settings, such as the page size, media type, and other settings, to default. All data: Reverts both the machine and telephone number settings to default.
   
5. Use the button to select Yes on the confirmation screen, then press the OK button.

The messages unable to print, unable to clean, unable 36, error 46 and error 32 are all print head errors.

1. Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine
2. Clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itself with a small amount of warm water or alcohol on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab.

Note: if any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging replace them

3. Then turn off the machine and unplug it for 70 seconds
4. Plug it back it and wait for the insert cartridges message
5. Insert the cartridges and check to see if the problem is still there. If it is it means the print head has failed and in order to fix this the print head inside the printer needs to be replaced. The print head is the part of the printer that puts ink from the cartridges onto the page

Unfortunately this can sometimes cost more to replace then the machine itself.

press function, print incomplete command report, then go to function 4 and use command numbers on report to delete.

i think this a firmware issue of the printer..
try to flash a new compatible firmware .

If trying to Print in Word 2003 - 2002 - 2002

Click on tools > options > Print tab > Uncheck Back Ground Printing. Click on ok. Try Printing.

 

If you are trying to Print from Word 2007.

Click on Office button > Word options > Advanced > Locate Print options and uncheck Backgound Printing click on ok. try Printing
