The key code for your Office 2008 that is on the installation disc or package that it came in is specifically dedicated to that disc and the install of that particular Office 2008 program, so not just any Office 2008 key will work. Unfortunately, you will need the key that came with your disc, or you will have to purchase a new copy. There's no way around it.

Here is my solutions to fix this problem without getting boot leg copies and getting into trouble - Contact Microsoft, let them know that you had a system crash and reinstalled your Office XP suite. They will ask you a few questions like how many computer is this suite installed on and then issue you a new key (FREE of charge). You can find the phone number if you try to register Office, it should ask if you want to do it online or by phone. Follow the instructions and that's it. Good luck with the key and your project.

You will need to purchase the software in order to get the product keys, I am sure fixya does not condone piracy....

That cd key is more important than the cd. using a key from a website or that someone gives you will only work for 30 days until activation is required. unless its an old copy of word like 97... You may have to buy another one, look on ebay you should get one very cheap.
