Why is the freezer not freezing and why is the ice maker making any ice?

I have a Samsung french door fridge/freezer model RFG298AAPN. The freezer does not freeze the food and no ice is in either the top or bottom ice maker. I have ensured demo mode off, the temp settings are -6 for the freezer and 34 for fridge (BTW fridge still cooling fine). I have cleaned the coils and the single fan is spinning. Its been about a week and the food is starting to thaw. There are no error codes during unplug and restart. Is there a reset or something I can also look at? Any help is greatly appreciated!

SOURCE: refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

SOURCE: freezer temp too high

Air must circulate in the freezer when working properly. I am guessing the recirculating vent in the freezer may be blocked which would not bring warmer air back to the coil to be cooled. As for the door, I theorize there may be too much negative pressure which pulls the door in while you were pulling out ... don't have solution yet.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG RS253BAWW NOT WORKING

the ice maker wont cycle untill the temp of the ice is around 10 degrees so if the freezer is at 15 or 20 due to some other malfunction then you will see the maker full of ice but it wont harvest and make another batch. so you could have a sensor bad, control malfunction, refrigeration issue, compressor, defrost system malfunction(you mentioned ice build up)

SOURCE: Kenmore Model # 596.735032.. Fridge is cool, Freezer is not freezing

After pulling the fridge away from the wall and removing the lower right hand panel I noticed that the compressor (big round black ball with copper tubing) was not turning on. I also noticed that there was a ticking or popping sound comming from it every couple of minutes or so. After doing some research online in numerouse forums I decided to try and replace the overheat relay that is attached to the compressor. It only took maybie five minutes at most to change it and the compressor is now working with nice cold air comming into the fridge and freezer. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

SOURCE: error code IF or 1F not making ice model #795,77562... Sears/LG

You posted under an incorrect model number, so can only give general info. IF is a code for ice room fan. It is a fan located in a plastic box in the upper left hand corner of the freezer. The IF code shows up if the control board does not get a feedback signal from the fan telling the control board that the fan is running. I'd check to see if there is some ice blocking the fan blade. If that is not the case, you will need a meter to do further diagnostics to find out if your problem is with the fan motor or the control board. (note: when you turn the icemaker off, the fan will no longer blow cold air into the ice room, and all the ice will melt. Also, when the icemaker bin is full, the same basic thing can happen. Steady use of ice or dumping the bin will prevent ice from melting in bin.) The fan runs on 12 to 16 volts DC (variable speed), and the feed back signal is about 4.5 volts DC.

The ice maker line freezes. I have thawed it, gotten water flow and one set of cubes but the line freezes again before in the time it takes to freeze the first set of cubes. What should I check next?

Check the water pressure or any filters in the water line or a crimp in the supply tube. Also make sure you totally defrost where the water enters the ice maker.

Why is the freezer not freezing and why is the ice maker not pruducing any ice?

At -6, the freezer is freezing. If it's not producing ice, the ice maker may not be getting water. The water line could be kinked going to the refrigerator. The water filter, if it has one, could be clogged or installed backwards.
