There is a smalll white part below the spool called a "lever". This is likely in need of replacement. Call Black and Decker at 800-544-6986 with your Model No, and Date Code (stamped on the trimmer itself near where the extension cord plugs in). If it is still under warranty they will send you the replacement part - if not, I loooked it up and it's less than $3 for the part itself.

Please make sure the trimming line spooled in your spool regularly.

If above does not work, please go to service center to change a lever inside spool housing.

if the white lever under the spool is broken, you can do it be your self. parts cost very cheap

check the white plastic lever location at the back of the spool. replace if broken. less than $3 part
