SOURCE: Maytag MDE8600AYW takes way too long drying clthes

either your house vent is plugged, or the vent in the dryer by the blower is plugged. when the vent is plugged, even partially, the moisture is not leaving the dryer. It will take a long time to dry, and the top of the dryer will get hot when the vent is plugged. Clean the house vent and check down below the lint trap by the blower, then it will dry fine again.

Dryer heats up, but tumbler won't turn.

Hello awe.... when the dryer heats but doesn't tumble it is due to a broken dryer belt. It is always a good idea to replace the idler pulley when you replace the belt.

IF you want to do this job yourself you can see a schematic and order the parts at searspartsdirect.com

Our Maytag Atlantis dryer is making a noise like a big tennis shoe is in the dryer when it runs. Model # MDE8600AYW. Approximately 9 years old. What could the problem be?

That is a common problem if exhaust on rear has a crimped hose or the line has lint that has built up and blocked the exhaust hose to outside. See if that is the problem by just for testing remover the hose on back rear for a run and it will tell if yes or no, Thanks Sea Breeze

How do i access the back of a Model #MDE8600AYW - MAYTAG Dryer. i think i need to replace the drum rollers but dont think i can from the front panel.

yes it can be accessed from the front panel as it is located on the back right inside of the dryer.
1) unplug dryer
2) open door remove screws
3) with a flat tip screw driver pry gently up on the top corners it will pop
4) move front panel forward and disconnect door switch
5) sit panel aside
6) lift top lid of dryer 90 degrees it has clip/hinged on back
7) look to the right back of dryer, it looks like a spring in a metal box disconnect and replace.
Hope this helps Tim

Maytag Dryer Model #LDE 4916 ACE. Dryer won't start

Sorry, no reset button. If it ran a bit without the belt, it may have overheated and blown one of the thermal fuses. You can find schematics and diagrams at
www.appliancepartspros.com
Good luck.

Maytag Atlantis electric dryer Model

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
