I bought an EmersonReserach SmartSet Clock Radio years ago that would automatically set the time, day, date, and month upon plugging it in. It would also switch automatically for daylight savings time, a feature I just loved!! However, now that congress passed the ruling that daylight savings time is different the clock doesn't change at the right day of the calendar. Now a clock that I never touched to correct the time I am needing to touch touch 4 different times in order to take into account when daylight savings times ends or begins because the clock looks like it doesn't have an mechanism to override the original programmed dates.
Do you know if there is anything I can do to adjust the programming to this clock to take into account the new dates of daylight savings time?? Thx!
I have an Emerson Research SmartSet CKS2000 and it didn't have the capability of changing to the new DST dates. What should I do. [email protected]

Well, the good news for Emerson seems to be that only three of us own the CKS2237. Of course, that'd be the bad news as well. The fix? Reset the clock four times a year, or spend twenty-five bucks to replace a perfectly good radio.Well, the good news for Emerson seems to be that only three of us own the CKS2237. I have three of the cks2000 model Emerson Research Radio/Clock alarms. I bought them because of their LOUD alarms. I was wondering if they offered a fix to we loyal users of their products? I guess not. Now I cannot rely on it to ever have the correct time.

There was a sheet of paper that came with my clock explaining how to adjust the daylight savings time settings, but I lost it. Anyone have theirs? All i know is it requires that you press an awkward combination of buttons simultaneously, but that's it.
These clocks actually was designed to be adjusted to change at the new times too.
I adjusted mine since 07 and it changes like 'clock work' as normal at the new dates.
To program it you have to follow these instruction
Depress MONTH/DATE and ALARM1 for 3 seconds and display will show DST 'start' month, week, and date. Display will show 4F 4.1, alternately flashing
4F = April First week. 4.1 = April 1.That is the old dates for change. What we want to do is to change to the new dates. Once it is done, it will change in the new dates as it did on the old dates..
Hold down the MONTH/DATE button for 5 seconds, and while pressing the - or down button3 times, until the display shows '3'F2. 3 is month F2 is the week. =March 2nd week. You have successfully change the March changeover.
Now for the November change. Depress and hold MONTH/DATE and ALARM2 after 3 second the display will show DST 'end' month, week, and date. First digit will be 10 =month. second digit will be L=Last week, and date, will flash alternately. While holding down the MONTH/DATE press the + or UP button once the display will show 11 (November) and F (first week) and 1 as date alternately flashing. You have successfully set it forthe next 100 yearsDescribe your problem:

Directions for Resetting the Daylight Savings Time (DST) Start & End Dates on the Emerson Research Smartset Dual Alarm Clock Radio (cks5055s):
This should work for all Smartsets, but I cannot make the guarantee (and no, I don't have any other directions, sorry)!
Adjusting the DST Start Date on an Emerson Research Smartset:
Depress & hold the MONTH/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons (at the same time). After 3 seconds the display will show the DST 'start' month, week, and date. It should be alternately showing "4 F" (April and first week week) and "4. 1".
While still holding the MONT/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons, press the DOWN (or "-") button 3 times, until the display is showing "3" (March) and the week as "F2". It should alternately flash "3 F2" and "3. 11".
After this is set, the clock should "automatically" reset itself
Adjusting the DST End Date on an Emerson Research Smartset:
Depress & hold the MONTH/DATE and the ALARM2 buttons (at the same time). After 3 seconds the display will show the DST 'end' month, week, and date. It should be alternately showing "10 L" (October and last week week) and "10. 28".
While still holding the MONT/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons, press the UP (or "+") button 1 time, until the display is showing "11" (November) and the week as "F". It should alternately flash "11 F" and "11. 4".
After this is set, the clock should "automatically" reset itself
One thing to note, if you ever have to change the lithium backup battery for the Smartset clocks, it will revert back to it's factory defaults and you'll have to go through his all over again.
And this conclude's Search Marketing Guru's public service announcement. :) We'll be back with relevant online marketing posts with our next posting!
Dear Emerson SmartSet® Clock/Clock Radio Owner: Your Emerson SmartSet® Clock or Clock Radio includes Emerson’s patentedAuto Time Setting System that automatically sets the clock to the correct year, month, date, day and time, the first time that you plug it in, and after every power interruption. It also includes a built-in long life lithium battery that can maintain the time and alarm settings for up to 5 years, or even longer. As an added benefit we have programmed the internal SmartSet® computer to automatically adjust for Standard/ Daylight Saving Time changes through the year 2097. TheDaylight Saving Time information programmed into all SmartSet® models was based on the United States Uniform TimeAct of 1966, which formalized theDaylight Saving Time period that we observe today. CurrentlyDaylight Saving Time begins on the first Sunday in April and ends on the last Sunday in October. The new Energy Bill that was signed into law by President Bush in August 2005 includes a provision to extend Daylight Saving Time. Beginning in 2007 Daylight Saving Time will begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. Of course this is a situation that is beyond the control of Emerson, or any other company that produces devices with an automaticDaylight Saving Time adjustment feature. For example most computers, PDA’s, and many other devices also have automatic DST adjustments. Manufacturers of these devices must now begin to make adjustments to the automatic DST software to agree with the new DST timing for 2007. Beginning in 2007 the current automatic DST default settings in this device would no longer be correct. It would then be necessary for you to manually adjust the TIME ZONE setting 4 times each year as follows: 1.) On the second Sunday in March you would have to set your clock to the next lower number time zone. For example if you lived in the Eastern Time zone (Zone 02) you would then change your clock to Zone 1 to move it ahead by one hour. 2.) On the first Sunday in April, this clock will automatically advance by one hour. You must then set the clock back to your correct time zone. For example if you lived in the Eastern Time zone you would set your clock back to Zone 02. 3.) On the last Sunday in October you would again set your clock to the next lower numbered time zone. 4.) On the first Sunday in November you would again set your clock back to your correct time zone. Instructions for changing the Time Zone setting are found in the Owner’s Manual. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause due to circumstances that are beyond our control. Printed in China 508-02
You have to run the clock back. Press Time/Date and then press up or down after you run it 24 hours the date will change, and the date will move day to day.
No way to change it to automatically do it without replacing the data chip. I changed the time zone from 3 to 2 in the fall and then have to switch back to zone 3 in April.
Yourl calendar year may be wrong. If the calendar needs to be reset hold down the month/date & time buttons. Press the up or down button based on you have to baclward or forward.
