Jack up truck for safety sake put jack stands under frame . remove all engine oil remove all bolts holding oil pan on if their is not enough room to drop pan you may have to remove bolts holding motor mounts and jack up engine. if front end linkage is still in the way remove linkage. pull oil pan out. check gasket that was between block and oil pan if any stuck to block of engine remove with gasket scraper or wire brush or wire wheel on drill.make sure mating surface is clean put new gasket on new oil pan I like to use a high temp sealer on gasket both sides. Put pan with gasket back in place of old oil pan and tighten all bolts. jack engine down ,replace moter mount bolts replace any linkage you took apart. and dont forget to replace engine oil. make sure oil plug is in pan before pouring oil in . before starting engine check that no oil is leaking than start engine and check for any leaks again if all is good your done. if this was helpful please leave good feed back. A good temp fix on a rusted oil pan is JB weld make sure no oil is on pan clean with towel and rubbing alchol .you may have to drain oil first. if it is rusted badly you may have to use a wire brush on a drill to clean the area to patch. if patched properly it may last for years.

How to change your oil

umm if you have to ask you probably shouldn't try it yourself. But If you have everything needed to change your oil and are willing and able then here's what you do....
First: you will need and oil pan, funnel, wrench that fits your oil plug, new oil filter and possibly something to help remove your old oil filter, car jack stands/jack to lift your car.
Second: lift your car up enough to get under it using the jack, place oil pan under car's oil plug.
Next: remove oil plug let oil drain.
Next: remove oil filter
Next: once drained put new filter on and reinstall the oil plug.
Next: fill with the correct amount or quarts of oil for your vehicle, should say in user's manual. lower the jack and should be good to go.

Oil change procedure

For the 3.8L, the oil filter is right underneath the engine near the front bumper. Really easy to get to. So, this a general procedure which applies to most oil changes as well:
What you need: new oil filter, 6 quarts of 5w20 oil (the vehicle calls for 5, but, it's always helpful to have a bit extra just in case), socket wrench and socket set, a car lift or a jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks, one can of brake clearner, a shop towel, a little bit of time, and a little arm muscle.
***It is best to let the vehicle cool before doing this. Hot oil hurts!!!
1) Open the hood, take the oil cap off and put somewhere where you won't lost it!2) Either put the car on a lift if you have access to one or dot he following: have the vehicle on a level surface, place chocks or something similar behind the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward, jack the car up, place jack stands under secure spots under the vehicle, slowly let the jack down letting the vehicle rest on the jack stands (if you are unsure on where to place jack stands, best to spend a few bucks to have a shop do the oil change).3) Have a large pan or container ready for the oil to drain into.4) Use a socket wrench (I cannot recall the size needed for the Pacificas) to take the drain plug off of the oil pan. Slowly take the drain plug out so you can also make sure the pan is going to catch the oil.5) Let the oil drain for about 5 to 10 minutes and put the drain plug back in. It doesn't need to be Superman tight!!! It needs to be snug. 6) Spray some brake cleaner on the oil pan where there is oil and wipe off with the shop towel. Be very careful not to get brake cleaner in your eyes. It burns. 'Nuff said.7) Now, the oil filter is not at an angle. It's on the engine straight. What this means is when you take it off, it will go down the sides of the filter and down your hand and arm. However, still has to come off. Reposition the oil pan under where the oil filter is. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. 8) Use the brake cleaner to clean the area where the oil filter went. Wipe off with towel. After wiping, some oil will continue to drip. 9) Take some oil and put some in the oil filter, tilt the filter and let it soak up all or most of what you poured in. Also, with your finger, run some oil around the gasket on the oil filter. 10) Put the oil filter back on the vehicle. Remember, this also does not have to be Superman tight, just very snug. The tighter you put it on, it will be that much harder to take it off next time.11) Now, with the oil pan drain plug and oil filter back in place, put the jack underneath the car, jack it up and remove the jack stands, and lower the vehicle down OR lower the car if it is on a lift. 12) Pour in the rest of the quart of oil from the open bottle that you used to pour a little bit of oil in to the filter with and pour in 4 more quarts of oil after that. 13) Pull the dipstick and wipe clean. Put the dipstick back in and pull back out to check the oil level. If a little more oil is needed you should have that extra quart. If needed, put a little more in and recheck.14) Replace oil cap after oil level is correct. 15) Turn on the car and let it idle for about 5 minutes. 16) Recheck the oil level (which there should be no issue with it).
Done!

I cant remove the motor mount or timing cover?

It's as simple as unbolting it. If you don't have the strength, get a mechanic.

Transmission is shifting hard.

Does it feel like the motor is jumping when it shifts? Check to see if you have a bad motor mount. Jack your car up and put on jack stands. Place a floor jack under the oil pan and jack it up gently to see if the motor lifts up higher than normal. If so replace the motor mount that is bad. Hope this helps. Please comment. Put a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan so you won't dent the pan.

Jack points on 2004 Volvo S80 to change oil?

As always use extreme caution when lifting vehicle, but I have found that the easiest way to lift my car for oil change is to put jack under the cross member under engine.

Oil and filter change

Jack it up and then put jack stands under the frame. You really need to purchase a good floor jack and 2 jack stands if you wish to change your own oil. This will allow you easy access to the underside. There is only one way to actually change the oil and filter.

When you say fluid ... I assume you talking about the oil and oil filter.
If you changing oil here are the steps :
1> Jack up the car, make sure you do not put the jack on the oil pan as it is most likely it will damage the oil pan.. rather put it on the frame which is little bit to the left of the oil pan. Trace the bolt to the rear of the oil pan.. I believe it is a 17mm bolt. Place the oil pan under the bolt and take the bolt off. Almost all your oil will drain out here. Make sure the oil cap on top of the valve cover is taken off.
2> About 10 inches to the top of the oil pan bolt .. you will find the oil filter. Usually you should be able to remove it with your hand, rotating it in an anticlockwise direction. The rest of the oil will drain out here.. so adjust the oil catcher pan accordingly.
3> Take the new oil filter and apply some of the old oil on the rubber gasket of the oil filter and tighten it back up in clock wise direction.
4>Tighten the bolt to the oil pan and lower the car from the jack or jack stand for easier access.
5> Put in 4 quarts of 5W30 or 10 W 40 through the oil cap on the valve cover.
6> Wait a few minutes and pull the car back a few feet. Check for leaks and you should be good to go.
